There has been someone who had created a modified verison of the TV engine that transcoded the stream using VLC, so MP was able to play it. Haven't heard from that anymore though. Maybe it is indeed possible to use the VideoLAN plugin to transcode the stream on the fly and then sending the resulting stream directly the the internal player. I'll try this when I have the time.

Would be great! Would be a huge step in getting IPTV to "replace" normal TV.

I connected the Gateway, Mediaplayer and my PC to a hub and did a capture of the packages between Gateway and Mediaplayer.
And found the following:

- It does get DHCP based on it's MAC address
- The channels are UDP streams:
channel 1 is: x.x.x.1:2000
channel 2 is: x.x.x.2:2000
etc.

So I spoofed the MAC address on my PC and voila it got an IP address this time!
Opened in VNC Player a multicast UDP stream and now I have TV on my PC!

So I guess this can be a very easy plugin for the new TVEngine 3?

BTW TVGuide is webbased and can be browsed through IE :)

I'm a noob at this stuff but trying to learn. I have an AmiNet110 STB but would like to bypass it. I think my STB is similar to the one you used. I'm not clear on how to capture the packages between Gateway and Mediaplayer though. Do I hook up the Line in, the STB and the computer to a hub? Once I do that, how can I capture the packages between the two to find the IP? Do I just need to find out the MAC address of the STB and then "spoof" it on my pc to get it to work? Thanks for any help.

Assuming the setup is similar, there's no need to find the IP the Amino has, cause it's given by DHCP. You might need the MAC address, mine can be found on a sticker on the mediaplayer. What you should not do is connect your internet, PC and IPTV connection to a hub, that will never ever work. You can plug the cable directly into the PC, replacing the internet cable, or add a second networkcard for watching TV. A hub can be used to split the TV cable between the mediaplayer and the PC, so you can watch TV on both.

You just have to spoof the MAC, PM me and I can give you the VLC player list with all the TV and radio (IP) listings in it.

You realize that the playlist you got from me is completely Unet-specific and will probably not work in any other setup?

Thanks for the info. I think I found what might be a MAC address on the STB. It is a 12 digit number at least. I have 2 NICs built into the computer. I'll try to spoof the MAC on one and see if I can get anything.

errors

Hello.
I tried to install this plugin, but i'm not having much success. I followed all the instructions, but when i try to configure either the vlc player plugin, or the iptv plugin, i get the following error:

http://djurrebroekhuis.com/error1.jpg
edit: full error log here: http://djurrebroekhuis.com/details.txt

This happens on an almost clean install of windows xp professional. The only things that i have installed are all my hardware drivers, zone-alarm firewall and avast antivirus (both of these were disabled during install). I have .net framework 2.0 installed, and ofcourse the latest vlc player.

Any ideas what is causing this problem?

Thanks in advance..

Haven't I compiled a version for the default MP 0.2.2 version? The error described occurs when using the SVN version with default installation, or the standard version with MP 0.2.2 SVN.

Edit: Forget this message, I must have accidentally posted it. Read next message instead :)
