IR Server Suite - Public Test Version (3 Viewers)

Hi Aaron

As you are probably the with greatest knowledge of the remote interface design on windows you can probably help me out on a little question I have, and maybe the IR server Suite is already capable of what I am aiming at:

Is it possible to differentiate between multiple remote controls on the same computer. Lets say I connect two MCE remotes with receivers to a computer and placed the receivers in separate rooms. Would there be a way of telling which receiver was getting the input, and thereby controlling two different applications by directing the input from one receiver to one application and the other to a second application?

Hi again... sorry for the long respond time but my dreambox had to be updated..
Just installed the latest version with your codes but same thing. The blaster flashes but the channels dosent change..

may I ask what you changed in the latest version, is there anything specific we should check?
I uninstalled the previous version of IR Server and installed the latest version, but the "Invalid handle" exceptions when blasting after a standby-resume still persist, as well as the unhandled exception when trying to add a new macro.
The only difference I could notice is that MP doesn't freeze any more when resuming from standby/hibernation and a PC_Resume event is defined.
I hope I didn't do anything wrong when upgrading the installation. The MPControlPlugin.dll in my MP's plugins folder is version 1.0.3.4, created on 2007-10-07; My IRServer.exe is version 1.0.3.4 from 2007-10-10.

i just installed the latest version of IR Server Suite but i cannot seem to get my MCE remote to change the channel on my settop box in Media Portal. I have all my IR commands learned for the 0-9 buttons in the MP Control Plugin. So i know that it is capable of blasting my settop box. I also mapped all buttons with a layer that has the Condition is "TV is running" and the Action is "Blast IR".

When i go into live TV though the buttons dont blast and i actually lose all control of the remote and have to exit live TV via keyboard, then control of the remote is regained. Any suggestions? thanks for you help in advance.

It could be the placement of the blaster bug ...
Or it could be that the codes aren't right...

@Everyone: Does someone have a DreamBox that is working with this?

It looks like there is a file version mismatch there. Try uninstalling IR Server and Re-installing it. Make sure MediaPortal, MediaPortal Configuration and (if applicable) TV Server are all shut down before you try to re-install.

I expected that the problems you're having would be fixed ... there must be something else going on.

Have you selected the "Disable Windows Media Center services" checkbox in the IR Server MCE device plugin?

Can you give me some more information on the unhandled exception when you try to create a macro? This is very strange.

Are logged in as an administrator or a limited user?

I'll do some more testing here and see what I can come up with.

There is a better way Jason,

You should install the TV3 or TV2 blaster plugin and configure it to change the channel on your STB automatically. As long as your channels are setup correctly it will intercept the request to change the channel and do it for you.

I'm not sure why the way you've done it hasn't worked... Could you provide me with some log files?

Are you using the default or replacement driver?

Windows XP or Vista?

Do you have Media Center? If so, have you disabled it's services?

thanks for the response. I am using the default driver. Im running windows xp sp2. Im not running Media Center. My channels are not setup correctly. Do they have to be before i test it. Ive been testing it by pressing the numeric button to change the channel manually while it is on live tv. Will that work?

btw...i reinstalled the default driver and my remote is fully functional again. so that problem is fixed.

I installed tv2 blaster and it seems to work now! The only thing is that none of the buttons on the remote work except the numeric buttons. Do i have to manually map all the buttons on the remote? Also, do you know of a easier way to do a mass update on the tv channels database? The only field i need to change on them is the "Via Input" field.

You need to tell load a preset into MP Control Plugin, have you done that yet?

Sorry, I don't know how to do a mass update on the tv database, short of loading up SQL Server Management Studio and modifying the database there.

Cannot map MCE button to tray launcher

Hi and-81!

I'm a great fan of your work, and I appreciate the enormous effort you've put in to this project!!!!

I've followed your progress on the MCE replacement diver and have long awaited to get the MCE to work with, first xp, and now vista x64. I have tested your latest release of the sever suite (10-10) and found some problems...

1. When i try to disable the Microsoft HidIr Service, the program is killed by windows when I click the final OK button. However, the settings changed are saved and reloaded the next time i run the server or reboot.

2. The second problem (perhaps related to the fist) is that I cannot map a button to the Tray Launcher. The program runs ok, but when I try to map a button nothing happens (it timmes out)..

I'm using the MP RC2, on Vista Ultimate 64-bit.. Since there have been some problems earlier with 64-bit versions, could this be related somehow?

I don't expect a quick response or solution, but just so you know (or if I perhaps have made a fundamental mistake and you could point it out..) and/or if anyone else have the same problem.
