blaster dont change channels..

I have new problem with th media portal/ir server. This mornig I try to install latest version of IR server ( service) but now I have problem with blaster. I change chanles, but nothig happend??? I see that blaster works (red light), but media portal don't change chanels.. I tray to deinstal ir server, media portal, restore system to early time.. , and install all from begining. All this for nothing. I try to relern ir command, but is the same. When I press any channel on media portal, blaster change STB to first chanel who is setup in STB. I try to install older version IR server, but probelm is not fixed.. Now I can't do anytihing, same reinstal system from the begining (windows xp) or change chanells with STP remote. I hope that someone here have idea what is the problem. Till today system works fine. Help?

hello_man, I don't get that problem, so it could be specific to your pc.

But ... What remote control do you have?

Do you have an MCE variant of Windows XP ?

Any other specifics you can tell me about your pc?

I am running Windows MCE 2005 with the MCE remote. I disabled the default MCE handing by modifying the registry.

I've got a problem, after shutdown my computer, the remote does'nt work and it seems like that the InputService is crashing- Logs is attached.

How can I get my Zalman HD160XT Remote (serial on com3) to get working with IRServer Suite?

The signals of the remote are visible at the "IRCommands" section but under "Programs" they aren't received :-(

No Answer? What I can do about this? I can reinstal XP, if this will help.. ? But now I don't have older version of IR server suite..

I don't think you should go as far as reinstall XP. This is one of the best supported pieces of software I ever saw. I was amazed by the author's commitment on various occasions. Maybe it's just the time of year when he needs more time with family/other stuff. Hang in there.

In the mean time, if you just want to uninstall the current version, I can email you a previous version. Send me a PM with your address. I have:

Wow Aaron, you've been busy. I have only had one issue since October but I am ready to upgrade to the latest version. I will back up my old settings and install tonight and try it out. Hopefully now some of the extra features will work for me and Vista.

Firstly I'd just like to say that I've been very busy over the Christmas period and I will probably be busy over the coming weeks too. So I apologise for being late to reply to your posts, but I'm sure you understand that it can get that way at this time of year.

I am trying to understand what your plugin/server does exactly and I cannot understand if it sends the blaster commands when a tv channel changed on MP or just controlling the settop-box.

If the TV Channel is set up as an external channel then the plugin should tune the channel when the user changes to it in MediaPortal.

I am expecting an easy GUI in MP server configuration to set a settop-box channel per MP channel. I expect that whenever a channel change on MP occurs and succeed, the bluster will send the command to the settop-box to replace the channel (Exactly like it was on MP1). Is this what I will get from the IR Blaster when it will support the Hauppauge?

Yep, once the Hauppauge support is in you should have this ability. Thanks for the code, I'll get onto it very soon. I probably wont have anything to show for it for about a week but I'll let you know when I do.

I've hooked up another computer with IR Server (latest version). The receiver is the Version 1 MCE Receiver from microsoft. It crashes the first time I press a key in MP.

The problem is here: "84, 89, 09, "

The 84 is telling the code that 4 values will follow, but only 2 do ... I expect the first 2 values of the next data packet will be the missing ones... so I'll make a change to handle that...

It must be a difference between my receiver and yours... no problem...

Did you uninstall the last version first? That's really important that you do.

I've had this error reported a couple of times now, but I don't know what's causing it... My best guess is that mediaportal is reporting the wrong card id and the blaster is sending nonsense to the STB... I'll take another look and see what I can find ...

Did you update to a newer SVN of MediaPortal at the same time? Let me know, but if you didn't then try that too ...

You might need to disable the windows MCE services ... There should be more information on this somewhere else on the forum. But basically, go to Start Menu, Run, Services.msc and then locate and disable any MCE services.

Do you mean that you can Learn IR? But it doesn't see the individual button presses?

I'll see what I can do... could be something in the log that will help here. I'll let you know if I need any more info.

G'day mate. Yeah, I've made a few changes. Take a look at the Translator OSD and see what you think, any comments would be very welcome.

I see that my LG LCD has RS232 port for service and controling. Can I control TV via serial cable? I found some similar question on internet and I think that is possible but I don't know what I must to do to enable this.. I see that people use grider. Is this possible with IR server?

Now I install Xp from the begining.. Instal latest sable Mediaportal version 0.2.3.0 (no update), and then I instal latest IR server suite.. Problem it's the same.. Blaster flesh lights , but don't change chanells on STB. After that I uninstal this version and install version 2007-10-28: Now works ok.. I don't know what is the problem, but mybe this will help you.. Lerning IR commands vorks ok in all verison. I don't know when problem start, but I think with latest version of IR server. bye

Hi dominique,
My LG Plasma is controlled via RS232 and IR Server Suite.
All you need is a "null modem" serial cable plus the protocol that normally LG provides in their user manual.
You build macros in the IR control plugin using "Send serial" commands according to the protocol.

Works like charm and is sooooo much more reliable than the IR method (and you free up one IR blast for additional device).

I really could recommend it.
Tip 1, when creating macros, use only one macro for one serial command. Then use the created macro in other macros to create more complex macros, ie macro in macro.
Tip 2, once you found the serial setting etc that works, I found it easier to create the whole set of commands by copy the first one offline in notepad, rather than built them one by one.
Tip 3, you may want to copy the basic "one to one" serial macros to other macro folders for reuse in Translator etc.

Two questions I hope someone can help me with. First is, when changing channels, not all channel changes are correctly blasted to the settopbox. Some channels work, some don't. E.g. channel #22 is properly transmitted. But I can't get to channel #243, it just blasts '2' and that's it. What can I try here?

I'm using: Mediaportal SVN 30-12, TVserver, IR Server Suite, MCE remote & blaster.

Question 2 is: my videos and music are located on shares on a different pc. To access the shares I can wake the pc using WakeOnLan. After idling for 10 minutes, the server goes to standby. Is there a way to start the batchfile for WOL when I'm entering My Videos or My Music in Mediaportal? I was thinking perhaps an Event in IR Server Suite is possible, but I don't know which one is appropriate.
