    Thanks Aaron.

fyi, i installed the 1.0.4.2 preview last night but it still had the same problem, but i don't think it is due to the version because i DID have it successfully working at one point with 1.0.4.2 :). It was just one of those where i made so many changes i don't remember exactly what it was.

i also have a another question - in the howto procedure it mentions to switch off the mce remote functionality in the MP config tool. If i do this then i lose the extended functions of the mce remote (eg, the info button), but up/down work ok. This is the case even if i tick the 'receive' option in the 'input sevice configuration' (but i get double button presses).

At the moment i have the mce remote option enabled in the MP control panel and the receive option unticked in input service configuration. the extended functions are working, but i don't get any blasting when changing channels - test is ok tho. Btw, i don't think it is because of the 'receive' option deselected. Even if it is switched on blasting still doesnt work, but i get the two keystrokes sent for each button. Is it safe to leave this option (mce remote) enabled in the MP control panel?

    thx..
anyways, i want to confirm that it was not just a configuration mistake i made in 1.0.4.1 (as other people might do the same thing). I'll also update the ir suite howto for 0.2.3.0 once im done.

Originally I didn't know about shutting down the tv server but I have been doing that for some time now.
I have shutdown the tv server, uninstalled IR server suite, checked everything is deleted. In vista appdata is in c:/users/medport/documents/appdata but I haven't found anything in there. After reversing the above to reinstal I still end up not being able to open the configure for the tvengine3 for IR server suite. I think some files are left somewhere as the configuration seems to be intact. Perhaps you could give me the names of some of the files I could search for. Could you also let me know what log files might be useful. I am now only installing the input service and tv3 blaster plugin. I just read your posting re help. I wish I was helping and not the opposite. Still trying 1.0.4.2
    Thanks

ok, you need to disable the built-in support for the MCE remote in MediaPortal otherwise it will interfere with IR Server Suite... The nature of the MCE remote is that only one program can access it at a time, so it needs to be IR Server Suite or MediaPortal, but not both.

To get rid of the double press problem you should follow the instructions for modifying the registry detailed here:
    https://forum.team-mediaportal.com/214180-post366.html

See if that fixes the problem.

    Thanks mate,

    fwal:

This is quite strange... it seems the installation is corrupt somehow ... perhaps the registry entry that stores the paths are wrong ...

There are registry entries stored here:

    HKLM\Software\IR Server Suite

Uninstall and then delete the registry entries and install again.

Is there anything different about your setup that might explain this, that you can think of?

ok, i dont know where i've gone wrong. i can't get it to work again.

here is the logs .. btw, the second screenshot is when i click the 'copy config from card' button.

that double press problem is fixed too. maybe you could add some kind of warning when the user enables the 'receive' if these registry keys exist at that time.

btw, is the code for ir server suite in the svn repository? I don't know if i can help with debugging, but i'd like to take a look.

That warning the user idea is a good one. I'll put that in. I used to have a configuration area you could disable the built-in button handling, but it was for an old method I no longer use. I should put it back for the new method.

I've got an idea why you're getting that error message, I'll have to check it when I get home. Hopefully I can fix that and get you a test copy soon.

G'day again Aaron, I looked for the registry entries you suggested but couldn't find them so I did a search of the registry and deleted everything I could find to do with IR server suite and tried reinstalling with same result. I have also uninstalled tvserver and cleared all folders and reinstalled and configured it, then reinstalled IR server suite but the setup was still there and still no good. My system is available on the forum, the only thing not so common is the raid but that should't affect anything. I'm getting close to formatting and start from scratch.
Thanks again for all your time, Fraser.

You know I never did finish that remote support ... I've got the code right here, so I'll turn it into an IR Server Plugin and upload the dll here when it's ready. I don't know if it will work, but if you're willing to test it then I'm willing to try.

Hopefully I'll have something you can test by the end of the weekend.

    fwal:

Are you using Vista SP1? I'm not, so maybe that's causing some trouble... ?

Before you do anything drastic, like format your hdd, let me do some more testing on my vista install and see if I can re-create your problem.

Give me a day or two and I'll see what I can come up with.

    Cheers,
