Getting my remote to change the channel on the cable box

Ok, probably a very noob question, but I can't seem to figure it out. How do I get my MCE remote to map to my cable box? I've got an archaic box (with an even more archaic provider - Mediatti Communications)

Details:
white MCE remote that came with my ASUS EHD3100 card
Pioneer cable box BA-V2000C
IRSS plugin

I am stationed in Okinawa, Japan and have to use Schedules Direct in order to get Mediatti cable channels. I've got SD set up, but I can't auto-tune my card to see the available channels.

Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks in advance! :D

Awesome, skoka123! Almost... When I go into the IR Commands tab inside the TV3 Blaster Plugin config window, I am trying to get the MCE receiver to learn the commands, i get the "Learn IR timed out" error. My MCE remote works through the receiver so I'm pretty sure its hooked up correctly.

    Any clues?

I know it might sound stupid but can you try unhooking the MCE receiver and hooking it back again? If that does not work, a restart of the PC might solve the issue.

Generally people say that you need to have no fluorescent light interference etc. In my experience with IRSS it has been very tolerant of such issues. Are you keeping the STB remote close enough to the MCE receiver? Maybe you should start from 1 cm distance to taking it about 4 inches apart.

If none of this helps then the experts will have to chime in.

BTW, most experts would need the logs of IRSS to help you debug the problem. Next time attach the zip file of the logs. You can find the logs by clicking on Start button --> Programs --> IRSS --> Logs. This should open the Log folder. Make a copy of the folder and zip it.

Tried both unplugging/plugging in the MCE receiver and restarting the PC, but with no luck. No fluorescent light to interfere and I varied from 1cm to 10cms. The learn command still times out. Which logs to I need to upload? I have:

    Install
    install_1.4.2.3126_2009-11-23-11-00
    IR Server
    IR Server AdminHelper
    IR Server Configuration
    MicrosoftMceTransceiver_DriverVista
    Translator

    Thanks!

I think Simone Chemelli is one of right persons to help you here. Though I can look into the logs I might not be of much help. Copy the log folder to a new folder, zip it and attach all the logs.

I've attached a zip file with all of the logs from the C:/ProgramData/IR Server Suite/Logs folder.

Edit - I went into the C:/ProgramData/IR Server Suite/Set Top Boxes and noticed that my archaic STB (Pioneer BA-V2000C) is not there. I'm curious if this could be the cause. I found a site that *may* have the hex codes for my STB and added them into the above folder, with no success. Is there another piece to get IRSS to recognize the STB codes?

No that is not the issue. If your STB is not defined you can set it up yourself as mentioned in the wiki. For you set it up first you need to get your IR codes learned by IRSS.

I see that there is some problem in the MicrosoftMceTransceiver_DriverVista.log file.

Just hope that someone more knowledgeable stops by to look at your issue.

In the meanwhile, you could try reinstalling IRSS or going with a different version of IRSS.

I'm reinstalling IRSS - Test Build 1.4.2.2975 right now... will see if that does the trick. Thanks again for all your help today!
