i'm having a similar problem, on XP MCE 2005, which means i often have to restart the input service

firstly, after a suspend/resume the remote does not work until i restart the input servce - the receiver lights up to say it's receiving, but my mapped commands do not take place

also, sometimes the remote doesn't work on a cold startup without a service restart. this is intermittent, sometimes it works, sometimes not. i get the impression that the service is starting before the remote receiver is ready.

also, i have some kind of fault on this motherboard that means USB devices occasionally get power-cycled, that is, they get get momentarily disconnected then reconnected. i suspect it's a power issue as it happens more frequently when more bus-powered devices. anyway, when this happens i get the same problem - the remote receiver indicates it's receiving properly, but my mapped commands won't work until a service restart. i appreciate that this i caused by a fault on my system, but it would be nice if the input service could detect when a device comes online and react accordingly

there does not appear to be a way of delaying the service startup when the system boots, as per an earlier suggestion, so i'm guessing that is vista only (this would have helped with one of the problems)

any suggestions would be gratefully received

Cafe.racer - here is a patched version of the MCE Transceiver files that works for me. The patch incorporates cpp2005's suspend/resume solution, and installs in the same way, over IRSS test build 1.4.2.2096.

There is a new StartReceive(port: n) entry in MicrosoftMceTransceiver_DriverVista.log. It should normally occur once as the receive port starts on system startup, and show a change to the learn port and back again before and after each learning operation. Any additional occurrences of this entry will be restarts at the points where the reading 'freeze' used to happen.

The patch also allows blaster port 1 to be addressed correctly.
Any change of getting new compiled version from this file for current test build 2391? :)

Hi cafe.racer, I have (nearly) the same problem.

    here is my solution:
I am using this plugin: (v1.10)
mpstandbyhandler starts this batch file after resume:
    Code:
    net stop inputservice
    net start inputservice

and so IRSS works well again

May I ask how you let mpstanbyhandler start this batch file? What steps do I follow in the config of the plugin? I already have the plugin setup for resume, but I would like to add this batch as well.

I've been tinkering with having the translator fire off a vbscript that restarts the service when the PC resumes. I think I've got it working. The key is to have the script wait about five seconds before it tries to restart the service. Since there is no actual "restart service" command, you need to call a stop and then a start. It seems that you also need to have the script wait a few seconds between the stop and the start.

When I'm confident that it works consistently, I'll post the script here.

I'm also having trouble getting this patch to work with the current 2391 build. The MCE tranceiver plugin fails to load and I assume due it's being for the earlier 2096 build of IR server suite.

Any chance of an update or failing that, has anyone got the older 2096 build of IR server suite they can post?
