I wanted to upload the "problem" file but the FTP Server always drops my connection after 2,7MB upload.
I don't know why, but i hope this is enough to analyse the problem.

I'm sorry but the sample isn't big enough. What FTP utility are you using? Maybe you need to switch between passive and active mode?

OK... With my primary FTP Client the connection always get interrupted... passive/active doesn't matter.
Whatever: Now i transferred the file from a VM-Ware machine with another FTP-Client. I uploaded ~42MB and i hope this is enough this time.

P.S.: I am very interested in your analyse results and hope u can give me a feedback

Yes, I do. That particular sample does not have any program map table (PMT). A PMT lists the streams (audio, video, subtitles etc.) that are available for a program. Without a PMT TsReader will be unable to play the file because it won't know how to find the video or audio streams. Even VLC cannot play it. If you have remuxed the file yourself then you need to keep the PAT and PMT streams.

OK, thanks for the info! I haven't remuxed the file. It's a record from my old dbox2.

I don't use VLC at all (don't like it) but LAV Splitter can read the file flawlessly and MPC-HC works as well. I think it uses the gabest source filter internally.

If tsreader can't play the file (any maybe never will) i think it would be nice to report an error message about the problem. At the moment MP 1.2.0 Beta does "nothing". If i want to play the file, MP freezes for 3-4 seconds and after that everything is normal.

Right - I would say that the dbox2 recordings are incompatible with TsReader then. It wouldn't be hard to fix them though. I used TsRemux (link) to fix the sample. It took all of 5 seconds and the file then played in MP perfectly. The other alternative that you already know about is to change the extensions from TS to something else so that another splitter will be used instead of TsReader.

The freeze is TsReader trying to find the PMT. I agree that an error message would be nicer, however it is beyond my skill (I'm better with TV Server).
