Hi guys,
I've got a Windows Server and I'm trying to run MediaPortal (standalone server) on it. I know server edition is not ideal but I have tried an XP virtual machine and I was unable to get a "signal" although the tuner was detected and did successfully retreive EPG information. My problem is that I've installed the software but my card is not being detected. I've installed the drivers, the "Windows Experience" feature through the server management MMC snapin, so I'm not sure what to do.
I read that one guy had success by installing a BDA patch for DVB, is that this:
https://forum.team-mediaportal.com/general-support-51/patch-tuner-issue-channel-scan-crash-windows-xp-6344/
Will that get my card detected?
Also, I was trying to test a different PCs ability to play off the streaming server through VLC - I entered the IP and selected RTSP (changed the host IP in MySQL under Server table). It appeared to connect but nothing was playing -- how do I choose what channel is playing through VLC, can I add anything to the url like "server/channel/number"?
The local server doesn't even show up on MediaPortal's server list (on XP it did) and it also shows no tuners at all including the default IPTV tuner.
Thanks a lot guys this is good software, I just need to get it going.
Oh and also: Do I need codecs just for decoding the picture? I imagined I only needed the codecs for viewing - which I have on the clients but I don't on the server (only have Haali and ffdshow)
