Joining TVServers and Recordings... (1 Viewer)

Hi everybody.

I´m a really happy user of MediaPortal since its creation. Now i´m currently improving the functionalities of my home network.

I have currently running a Windows Home Server with 2 Hauupauge TV cards, and running as TVServer for all the MediaPortals (one in each room).

The only different PC, is the one on the Living Room, wich also has a Hauppauge HVR-4000 with satellite cappabilities. Until now, this TVServers worked alone, but from a recent update in the Windows Home Server, they´ve joined all the recordings in a folder called "Recorded TV" this folder has speciffic features, and is optimized for TV recording, so I move all my recordings, and setted up my recording folder here.

So, the Windows Home Server TVServer has de Recorded TV folder, and also the HTPC has the Recorded TV folder, so, both record the TV shows on this folder.

I don´t know why, but as the HTPC is not always on, the TV guide, has to refresh each time is powered on, but now, as it has the same folder as the Windows Home Server, the guide is always updated, I don´t now why, becouse nothing about the guide is stored on this folder, but if it worksss...


The Problem...when I record something on the Windows Home Server, I have to manually update the database of the TV recordings on the HTPC, to see this records, so I have to initialize the MediaPortal setup to do this, and in a HTPC that only has remote...jejeje...is a pain...even on the other direction, If i record something on the HTPC I have to update it on the Server...

My question is...is there any way to update automatically this? or maybe, is there any way of use in the HTPC the Windows Home Server as Master TVServer, and the HTPC as Slave TVServer...but, not in the way as you disable this feature in the past, only using the HTPC server in the HTPC, and when selecting sattelite channels, or when all the tuners are busy...


I´m not considering update my version of MediaPortal, beecouse, I have everything working on this version (TV logos, Complete movies database, Windows Home Server support...and so on)...a lot better than on newer versions.

Thanks a lot Rekenar! I´ve been looking for this idea, but I´ve to change all the TVClients, and I have almost 5 MediaPortals, so it would be a pain!

Finally, I´ve discovered, that if I enter the other TVServer name on the HTPC TVServer, it starts to work inmediatly, without installing the TVServer client.

So, I can change manually between TVServers... Is there any way to select the TVServer inside MediaPortal with the remote control?
