I've seen the neverending spinning circle many times.

Please supply full bug reports then!
The spinning circle bug for last.fm does only occur after some relocation of code when the authentification fails. (You'd need to close MP to enter the correct pass using configuration.exe nevertheless ;) )

If you spot that with BlueTwo at any other place just report it please.

When entering no or the wrong password, the LastFM radio waiting cursor circle will wait forever and only a restart of MP can make it go away.

Oh sorry - I didn't understand you're "many times" entering a wrong password since you'd usually setup the plugin only once ;)

My understanding was that there were serveral occasions where the waitcursor didn't stop (besides failing auth).

true but if I install a new SVN and copy my old config back, sometimes the plugin "forgets" my pass.

That is the real reason

    Hello,
I signed up to last.fm, downloaded the Last.FM software version 1.1.3.0 installed and setup my account Ok. lastfm Software runs and appears to work Ok.
I then activated last.fm mediaportal plugin but when I select last.fm plugin menu in MP the error message pops up: "Radio handshake failed: Streams might be temporarily unavailable". The MP last.fm plugin icon is in the tray as described

    The MP log shows:

    Any help appreciated, thanks.

    keith,
    don´t run the last.fm software
    tomtom

Thanks for the suggestion tomtom, I gave that a shot but still got the "Radio handshake failed" error... but your comment led me to suspect about what exactly was an "Audioscrobbler plugin".

The wiki for this plugin simply states:
My last.fm Radio requires the ?Audioscrobbler plugin to be activated and configured.

Not being familiar with last.fm, I took this to be a last.fm software plugin, since their download page talks a lot about plugins which is why I installed their software. After your comment I went and seached the large list of MP plugins for Audioscrobbler and there it was... doh!

Suggest small update to the Wiki "Audioscrobbler plugin" is in the MP plugin list. last.fm software/plugins are not needed to be installed. There are some other threads on these forums with similar problem to mine, so its probably the same misunderstanding of the instructions.

Also a link in the wiki to how the Audioscrobbler plugin should be setup would be nice: for those who have never used last.fm outside MP - I dont know what all those Audioscrobbler plugin settings are. I get a little bit further now but no music is playing when I subscribe (even when I sign on to the MP user group radio :), the green circle just spins around endlessly until I have to quit MP to get rid of it. I will now go and search, check logs etc and try find some answers on how to get this plugin working...

    Thanks again,

    Keith.

enter your username and password in the configuration of audioscrobbler.
play some songs of your collection with mp. those songs will be scrobbled = added to your last.fm profile. After a while you will get recommendation or neighbor streams.
for tag streams you´ll have to set some tags via your web last.fm account. tags some songs like 80s, rock etc. they will show up for streams after an hour or so.

maybe all this is explained in the wiki, too, but that´s it in short

The logs were showing a exception condition. After some investigating I discovered that this plugin only appears to work if you have something other than the stock configuration default internal dshow (i.e. BASS Player). This will cause a lot of pain and support posts for new users since the exception message in the log and GUI endlessly spinning green wheel do not indicate what might be the problem. I had to run the debugger to track down what the exception might have been related to.

Other than that, great plugin! Are the plans to make it more like the last.fm software: Its good to just type in a tag and press play, then tagsing songs as you go if you feel compelled to. Much easier than searching the website and tagging songs.

The stable build did not contain the player selection and the next release won't have this either - btw: default is BASS.

The spinning wheel should have been fixed by the svn of yesterday though...
