LCDSmartie plugin (3 Viewers)

After some testing by lugiber I have now released a new version (2.8.1) of the plugin. There is also a new version of the seperate config.ini file. All links can be found on wiki as usual.

The main improvement in this release is how calls are made to MediaPortal. Calls are now cached for 1 second (at the moment not configurable). This has reduced the CPU load dramatically. Some fixes to lugiber's config.ini file have also helped.

There is a new file called CharMap.xml that goes in the root directory of LCDSmartie. This file contains nodes that define translations for foreign characters. The current file just contains all the mappings that were previously hard-coded. This file can be edited to add or remove character. The smaller this file the faster the plugin will run, so if you don't need to map any characters I recommend removing the <char> nodes (you still need to leave the <chars> node).

Let me know of anymore problems/requests

Allen

I have installed the Webinterface plugin, and now, with the LCDSmartie plugin, my VFD is crazy ! I think it's because the two plugins use ECP2Assembly.dll . Is it possible ti make a ECP2Assembly.dll file with all the functions needed by the two plugins ?

Hi there. I'm the developer of ECP2Assembly, and I know that that problem exists. I'm working on a seperate installation routine for this so that it will sort of solve this problem, but in the mean time, simply re-install the LCDSmartie plugin. The version of ECP2Assembly.dll included with the LCDSmartie plugin is newer than the web interface one, and therefore should work with both plugins.

Sam

Yes, with this file version, all is ok: MPWebcontrol and the LCDSmartie plugin work very good in the same time ! Thanks for your help !

    Strange..
With the config.ini of the zip file there is only a "Vollbild" (should translate to full screen) for me in TV. Therefore I suggested the cpu load to drop. It really went down to sth around 10-15% but although the display is now rather useless there is a little stuttering in Live TV I don't have using the integrated plugin with full epg-information..

I can't give you any answer about why live tv is stuttering, but if you want to try the lcd smartie with more screens you can download my config.ini from the lcd smartie wiki page.

At the present it has 18 custom screens for media portal. With my 3.2 ghz intel processor it uses about 6-10% of my cpu so it is not all that much.

Sorry, I don't really understand what you mean by this. Can you explain a bit more. what language are you using in MediaPortal ? What do you mean by the "display is now rather useless" ? Do you mean it's not displaying what you would like, if so what would you suggest ?

I am using german translation (mostly because I am not the only person using the HTPC)

o you mean it's not displaying what you would like, if so what would you suggest ?
Yes, that's it. Only module name e.g. "Vollbild" in TV and current time are shown.

I'm not very experienced with LCDSmartie but saw at a glance that lugiber's config was made for 4 Lines whereas my little display only has 2x16.
I can't see remote what is showing on the display, but if lugiber's config can be tweaked for 2 Lines and contains nice Stuff like epg-data display + music browsing I will for sure investigate further where the TV-stuttering comes from this evening

Very strange. The config.ini file included in the zip was designed to work with a 2x16 display and should display the module name on the first line and details on the line below. When you are watching TV it will show the program name and times (assuming this data is in the epg). If you are in fullscreen TV then the first line will display "fullscreen" and the second line details about what you are watching. Are you sure you have copied all the DLLs to their correct places, and have the versions included in my zip file ?

Yes I had. But the included config.ini e.g. has modification date 26.03.2005 00:09!?

EPG available but not shown. Regardless of active module with changes correct there is only current time in Line 2.

That is the correct config.ini file. What version of MediaPortal are you using ? What do you get it you go into the EPG and select a program ? The display should show information about that program.
