I've installed yesterday Mediaportal 0.2 RC4, but unfortunatelly, even if listed as supported, the tuner it's not detected.

The TV Tuner detection fails with "No video capture card(s) were found, you won't be able to configure a capture card".

Actually the tuner works with it's utility Savvy TV...

I've tried to insert manually in GraphEdit the DVB-T tuner filter and tried to render the output pin;

This is what I get:

Box background color: Orange
Input pin: "Antenna In Pin"
Output pin: "MPEG2 Transport"
Description: "DVB-T TV Tuner"

output pin is connect to:

Box background color: Light violet
Input pin: "MPEG-2 Stream"
Output pin: N/A
Description: "MPEG-2 Demultiplexer" (A small clock appears near to it)

What should I try?

have you installed the WDM or the BDA drivers?
for MediaPortal you have to use the BDA drivers.

have you installed the WDM or the BDA drivers?
Where do you find them ?
For me, the only available drivers are included in SavvyTV setup.

After installation, a "driver" folder contains usbdtv.* files.
In the .inf one, some "BDA" strings are present but I don't know if it means the driver is BDA certified.
Indeed, other apps which need BDA driver, can find the tuner.

What drivers did you use to say the dongle is MP compliant ?

Thank you.

Ok. That's what I've just done. And nothing more than I have seen before !

Could you simply tell us what drivers you used to certify LiteOn DTV dongle compliancy please ?
Thx.

Just because here, you say it is supported in MP.
And I suppose if you say that, you've checked it before. And to check it, you need the card. No ?
(When I say "you", I mean anybody in MP team of course ...)

How does work "CaptureCardDefinitions.xml" ?
In the "filter" tag, the attribute "name" must be the same than in device manager for cat = "tunerdevice" ?
I'm wondering if I need to edit this file ...

he, he. if that would be the case i would own 50+ cards ;)
i have just created the template page for this card.

you tried to download this drivers here?
http://www.liteon.com/prod/getDriver.do?action=driver&xml_id=4_2&menu_id=4_2_22&pid=3&cid=1_22_1
you must download all 7 files

BDA drivers have to be in there.

That's what I've done.

The point is that the dongle I use is not made by LiteOn but use their tuner.
So the driver is exactly the same but the product is different.

If I look at CaptureCardDefinitions.xml, I can see the LiteOn card :
Code:
<capturecard commercialname="Lite-On USB DVB-T" capturename="LITE-ON DVB-T (PID=F001) receiver" devid="vid_04ca&pid_f001&mi_00">
<capabilities tv="true" radio="false" mpeg2="true" mce="false" sw="false" bda="true"/>
<tv>
<interface cat="tunerdevice" video="2" audio="3" mpeg2="1" sectionsandtables="5"/>
<filters>
<filter cat="networkprovider" name="Microsoft DVBT Network Provider"	checkdevice="false"/>
<filter cat="tunerdevice" name="LITE-ON DVB-T (PID=F001) receiver" checkdevice="true"/>
</filters>
<connections>
<connection sourcefilter="networkprovider" sourcepin="0" sinkfilter="tunerdevice" sinkpin="0"/>
</connections>
</tv>
</capturecard>
Are the names important here ? Because my dongle is not labelled like that in the XP device manager.
If I copy&paste this capture card and simply change names, to make them match my dongle, will it work ?

As mentionned by Blutarsky, LiteOn INF file says :
USBDTV.DevDesc = "DVB-T TV Tuner"
USBDTV.FriendlyName = "DVB-T TV Tuner"

Maybe it's a stupid name and description change ...
