    Hi

I am setting up MediaPortal to replace my Windows Media Center solution I have now. But I have a problem with my MediaPortal 1.8. The problem is that when I watch Live TV or Recorded TV the picture on the client freezes after one minute, and it’s the same for live or recorded TV. When Live TV freezes I can just press stop to get back to the TV menu. In the case of Recorded TV to program just stops after one minute and I get back to the Recorded TV menu. I have tried with FTA and paid channels, but the same.

If I look in the streamingserver.log on the server and past the Stream server url in my case rtsp://WHS:554/D3D89514 into VLC then the Recorded TV works fine with no freezes or shutter.

So my conclusion is that there is some issue on the client side. I have the TV Server on a separate machine and I have tried from two different clients but the same issue. Both the clients and the server have a clean MP installation with no extra plugins for now.

I have tried to change the TV codes between LAV Video Codec and Microsoft DTV-DVD Video Decoder but with no success.

What sort of network are you running - wired, powerline or WiFi ?

(What's happening is that the client stops getting RTSP data for a few seconds and assumes the stream has stopped - can't tell why from the logs).

You might also be interested in trying 'UNC paths' mode - see http://wiki.team-mediaportal.com/1_MEDIAPORTAL_1/141_Configuration/MediaPortal_Configuration/22_TV/5_Debug_Options?highlight=unc paths and http://wiki.team-mediaportal.com/index.php?title=1_MEDIAPORTAL_1/0_What's_New/1.9.x/Config_Tool_Changes/TV//Radio_Advanced_and_Debug_Options (we're moving/renaming/making visible these options in MP 1.9 which is why that part of the Wiki is a bit confusing at the moment - the important thing for MP 1.8 is to start MP client config tool from the command line using 'Configuration.exe /debugoptions' to make the options available.)

    Hi
    Thanks for the useful links.

What sort of network are you running - wired, powerline or WiFi ?

I use gigabit cable network for both the server and client.

(What's happening is that the client stops getting RTSP data for a few seconds and assumes the stream has stopped - can't tell why from the logs).

When I activated the “Multi seat setup: use UNC paths” it seems to work without freezing. Is this a setting that I can keep or is it just for troubleshooting?
