Hello,
On some channels I get recordings that don't play (not even in VLC viewer).
This does not happen on all channels, some channels work just fine.
However, when I watch live TV on the troubled channels, that does work. I do notice that if I press "F3" in the TV view (to get the program info), it says : "No data available", which is also not normal.
Now, I did the following experiment, and the outcome is a bit puzzling:
1) I started viewing (timeshifting) on one of the troubled channels, the audio/video is OK.
From there, I "start recording" the channel I am watching. After a while I stop.
2) I am no longer watching live TV now. Now, I tell it to record the same channel. (so, this time without watching the same channel)
The result is that file #1 is OK (plays audio & video fine) but file #2 does not play ! (screen remains black in both MP and VLC viewer)
Conclusion : it appears like I can record off these channels, but only if I start the recording from within viewing (timeshifting) !!
I have attached the tswriter logfile from TVserver for these 2 events, and also an analysis of the 2 recorded TS files with ProjectX.
Forensic detectives_ Vanished-2008-01-07-10_40_log.txt is the first recording (and is OK)
Forensic detectives_ Vanished-2008-01-07-10_40_1_log.txt is the 2nd recording (and is not OK)
Note that tswriter shows this for the good recording:
07-01-2008 11:27:18 Recorder
cr pid:1ffe
07-01-2008 11:27:18 Recorder:add video stream pid:203
07-01-2008 11:27:18 Recorder:add audio stream pid:58
07-01-2008 11:27:18 Recorder:add private stream pid:32
07-01-2008 11:27:18 Recorder
mt pid:7df
07-01-2008 11:27:18 Recorder:serviceId:7df
and this for the bad recording:
07-01-2008 11:29:48 Recorder
cr pid:a6
07-01-2008 11:29:48 Recorder:add video stream pid:a6
07-01-2008 11:29:48 Recorder:add audio stream pid:1a8
07-01-2008 11:29:49 Recorder:add audio stream pid:1a9
07-01-2008 11:29:49 Recorder:add private stream pid:1dc
07-01-2008 11:29:49 Recorder
mt pid:462
07-01-2008 11:29:49 Recorder:serviceId:2b69
and this is in fact in line with what ProjectX reports about the files.
I looked on the forum but I could not find a similar report. Has anybody else seen this problem ?
Thanks!
Johan.
