I too think I may have this problem with memory leak. Live TV lasts about 2 minutes before PF usage is up to ~1.2GB and MP gives up. If someone can tell me how to post my log files in http://pastebin.team-mediaportal.com I'll do so.
Well when i disable my windows firewall my TV works much much better. But i dont want to turn off the firewall.
So i think its a bad code in MP.
Another thing is when i do timeshift and record live tv the system becomes too slow because i have an analog cable tv tuner. So the best thing is a hardware mpeg2 encoder or a dualcore proc.
My proc is an AMD64 3000+ @ 2.6 ghz
I never had the Windows Firewall running, so it wasn't that for me. I uninstalled MP 0.2.0.4 and have gone back to 0.2.0.0, which is working fine again, no memory leak. I'm sticking with that for now, until this issue is resolved. If it's any help to the developers, I used the 0.2.0.4 patch and then put the frame rate up to 50fps (as Frodo suggests on the homepage) and that's when the problem started.
I've had this problem as well, I've tried 0.2, 0.2.0.4 and 0.2.1.0, the same problem with all of them. I've got two cards installed, one Hauppauge PRV-250 and one Technotrend C-1500. Right now my problems just disappeared (just like "Crash" described). I was at that time running 0.2.0.4 and had the problem (memory leak with about 100kb/s) one thing that could be of interest is that the memory leak only appears when I'm looking at channels using the Technotrend C-1500 card (dvb-c) but when I use the PVR-250 card the memory leak stops, but if I switch to a channel that uses the DVB-C card the memory leak begins again.
Right now I'm on 0.2.2.0 and don't have any memory leak problems, but I guess that they will appear some time again, It did that before.
By the way, when I tried the TVserver some time ago I had the exact same problem there as well, memory leak with the DVB-C card but not with the analogue PVR-250 card.
I've also tried my FireDTV-C card as well, same problem.
I find MediaPortal can often get up to 200mb or so memory useage, which seems a lot for a media app. I thought it might be .NET's garbage collection or something?

Well, normaly, my MediaPortal hovers around 200mb memory usage, having both DVB-T/C connected in series (firewire). This usage seems pretty normal for a .NET application, as you point out, but most imporantly - it's stable! However, everything changes when I just connect the DVB-C - it ends up at 1.75gb, and fails! Nothing I can do about it, no help from Digital-Everywhere where I bought the devices.

The same thing is happening with me. I've got the 0.2.2.0 version and whenever, I watch videos at all for too long the program slows down gradually until after about 20 mins it stops and I have to ctrl + alt + del out of it.
forgot to mention I don't have a tuner card at all I've just got it installed on my HP laptop with windows xp. I just use it to watch the videos on my computer, and the trailers, music videos and other streaming content.
I had the same problems, mediaportal crashed on me every time when i recorded for a while, seemed random at times but it did crash, the whole computer went into reset and rebooted.
To try and solve this i removed 1 stick of 512mb memory thus leaving 512mb in the computer.
This solved it completely for me! Mediaportal latest official version (so no cvs) runs
smoothly and no problems so far!
Seems the memory i took out was not 100% ok so on high memory loads the computer got stuck.
Hope this might help someone here!
