    Hi There,

I have recently upgraded my motherboard and CPU on my Client HTPC after the hardware failed. Everything is working fine, except that I am unable to play my Recorded TV (although the Live TV works fine). When I select a Recorded TV item, it doesn't even seem to try to play it.

Would anyone be so kind as to let me know what is wrong. Logs for client and server are attached.

    Thanks

    Thanks MM.

    I hope you are well.

I noticed that line in the logs, but when I play Recorded TV from the server (I have the client side installed on the server HTPC too) it all works fine. So there isn't a change in the database setting on the TV Server.

I was under the impression that the location of the recordings was a server side setting , so shouldn't have been impacted by a client hardware issue.

    ...for the exact same recording?
Your client log contained this line:
    [2015-08-01 18:47:30,940] [Log ] [MPMain ] [INFO ] - PlayRecording: - using rtsp mode:True

The format of that line is meant to be "PlayRecording:<recording file name> - using rtsp mode:<use RTSP mode flag value>". Since there is no file name in the log line, either the recording you're trying to play does not have a file name, or.... I don't know what else. In other words, it looks like that recording is not valid.

Sorry I never got round to grabbing logs, I have been manic lately.

I finally fixed it by selecting UNC Paths in the advance options.

    Thanks

That would be a workaround rather than a fix (because RTSP mode still won't work for you)... but semantics shemantics I guess.

Hate to dredge up an old topic, but I have this exact same problem.
Same error in the logs. Same situation. Recordings work perfectly fine on the Server. TV works perfectly on all the clients. But recordings do not work on the clients. I have 3 separate clients, all giving the same error.

Id like to avoid enabling the UNC path fix if I can.

What log files would be useful here?

On the clients I have logged in MediaPortal Error log and it just has the exact error as at the top here.

Indeed, the specific details of this problem have been moved out of my memory to make room for newer problems. ;)
We'll have to pretty much start over.

As always, all are required. Please follow the normal procedure:
    1. Use the Watchdog tool with option 1 ("report a bug to Team MediaPortal") on any one of the clients to start MediaPortal in debug mode.
    2. Go to the TV section.
    3. Play live TV (any channel) for 30 seconds (expected to succeed).
    4. Stop live TV.
    5. Attempt to play a recording (expected to fail).
    6. Attempt to play another recording from a different channel (expected to fail).
    7. Close MediaPortal.
    8. The Watchdog will produce a zip file for you.
    9. Upload/attach the zip file here.
