This has plagued my system since Mediaportal 0.2.0 and im desperate to seek help. When i open My TV and tune channel, 1 time out of 5 the channel is total gibberish, squeaking audio and total garbage as a picture. If the channel opens up as a gibberish, changing channel has no effect, only way is to turn the tv off and hope it opens up like it should next time. This affects recordings as well. Every other scheduled recording comes off as a gibberish. I'd upload a sample, but i dont know how to cut if to a suitaple piece. This is not a codec problem, it happens with mpc codecs as well.

Hi... The main thing that sticks out to me is the line "SIGNAL LEVEL: 24, SIGNAL QUALITY: 24" in the tv.log which is not good enough to get a decent picture. Maybe there is some electrical interference or something happening at the time? Make sure all your connections are good. Have you tried plugging the aerial into a set top box or something to see if you have the same problem? I'm not really an expert in this area so others may have other ideas or suggestions

The antenna comes from STB, which works just fine. Also when the channel tunes without problems, there's no glitches or freezes in the picture. The problem first arise when i upgraded the FloppyDTV firmware (this is the .01 revision) so it could be the device itself. Downgrading as far as i know is not possible, so i cannot really test it. I'll have to try some other program to rule out the dvb-card.

EDIT:
FireDTV Viewer works just fine, i've been zapping channels for the last hour without any problems, so the problem is in Mediaportal.

I'm clueless. I have already replaced gfx card, motherboard, cpu, psu and memory. I have also moved to a different apartment, so it's not the reception. Only thing i haven't yet replaced is the firewire card (VIA 6306 based) and the dvb card itself.

Yes, Purevideo and buildin MPC codecs, the same thing happens with both. Before Purevideo i was using a Radeon card, the same thing happened with it too. I've reinstalled Windows between major hw changes to minimize driver conflicts.

Do you now the FireDTV support tool? (Should be installed with the drivers).

If this happens, open up the support tool and check what is listed there for BER, signal level etc.. Compare that to the situation were it does work.

BTW Signal level should be above 50 or 60% i believe, and BER should be as close to zero as possible for optimal image quality.

Are you using some splitter in between? Try using the cable directly from the wall. Also if the splitter has any gain (is active one) it could be the reason since Floppy is really sensitive to over boosted signal. I have DVB-C and Twinhan + Floppy as DVB cards. Twinhan needs singlan boosting where as Floppy wont give good results with the boosted signal.

I would also try cable directly from wall. And second thing is to try different network provider. You can change between generic and dvbc network provider. Well in case if you have windows containing mce. It worked with my pinnacle tuner,which had similar problems. Use setuptv and in card edit section it can be changed.
