Logitech Harmony 525 with MP (1 Viewer)

Hi

I trying to configure my Harmony 525 to be used with MP.
In the logitech software I have now configured a device "MediaPortal" (komponent Media Portal), instead of my mediacenter-PC.
And in Mediaportal configuration it is set to use Microsoft MCE remote control.

It partly works, but when I use my activity to start the whole think, MCE starts also.

Any suggestions?

Hi, Can anyone help. I am using a Harmony 525. However I can't get the ff, rw, stop buttons to work. This isn't too much of a problem cos I can use the on screen buttons. The most important button missing is the keyboard ESC. Do anyone know how I can programe this button/s ?

Hi,

First of all, did you fix the issue where Microsoft Media Centre keeps opening rather than Media Portal? If not, search for "MP Tray" which solved this issue for me.

On my MCE remote, the "clear" button works like ESC on the keyboard - not sure if there is an equivelent??

Other than what you described, does the Harmony 525 suit you? I'm looking at buying one.

Hi, thanks for the tip. I should have mentioned this. I bought an aftermarket remote. It is meant to work with Media Center, so I thought it would work fine with Media Portal. Infact it does appear to work, but I not sure what the coloured buttons are meant for. Anyway, it seemed that I was getting too many remotes and this confused all the family, especially when you are running a through a music system with a digital top box. So I purchased a Harmony 525. It was a doddle to setup to use for each unit. If you spend a little time, it can be a one button push to turn on the required unit (but they have to be left on stand-by and you must keep the remote pointing at the units until they are all on or off) So yes I would recommend it. On line support was very good, and you can call and update live from the help desk. However the only problem I have is that I can't get it to use the keyboard ESC funtion to get back to the main menu when needed. I haven't given up on this yet, as they must be away to map a button to a keyboard stroke. I'm going to try this forum and the help desk again. The remote can be programmed to copy any remote, but I need to make sure the I know which button to copy. I let you know how I go.

( I liked the first one so much that I had to have another) well the first one was built on a Dell GX280. This PC is very loud when under load and it was in a cabinet, so when it got warm it was noisy. So this is being move to another room & the 2nd has been built on an IBM Thinkcentre. Very quite. So, I needed another remote. I bought one for $12 on Ebay. It came from HK and has all the buttons and works well. Today I have ordered another one of the same. I am going to programe the Harmony to copy this, so all should be good. Fingers crossed. I can let you know once done. Cheers Eddie

I use the Logitech Harmony 555 with Mediaportal and it works fine for me after some configuration. I don't have any problem with the back/esc/clear button and I can navigate menus back and forth.

I have mapped my remote as a MCE Remote in the Harmony software. I would suggest read some post about IR Server Suit and installing it. If I remember correctly it solved my problem with the ESC(back) function.

I previously used a MCE remote but was frustrated that the remote wouldn't learn my commands to control the volume on my receiver (SONY). The 555 solved all those problems and now I can even switch between different audio settings with the same remote. I am a happy camper with the Logitech Harmony.

Hi I've also got the 555 mapped as an MCE remote. Does your Info button work correctly? It's supposed to map to the context menu (same as mouse right-click) but mine does nothing.

Yes, my Info button maps to the context menu. When I click it I get the same menu as you describe a right click on the mouse would generate.
I use an activity where I have set the Volume and Mute button to my receiver and all other button is mapped to Media Center PC. Other than that I haven't done anything special to get it to work.
