I am very suprised to hear that, no question that the RX 470/480 are much more powerfull, but the RX 460 is a quantum leap more powerfull than my old AMD HD 6670 and that was good for 3D, HD TV and BD movies using Madvr without green screens etc. My primary reason for buying the RX 460 was to get HEVC HW accel. fot German DVBT2 HD TV (not supported on the HD 6670) as the CPU load without it can peak on my HTPC up to 50% which I felt was bordering on too high, with the RX 460 it does not get much above 10% so that is great but the green screens and long stop times on other content are a major down side.
Are you seeing long stop times (20 secs or more) after playing vids in TVS and OLV or recorded TV programs with the RX 470/80?
DXVA2 on AMD with Crimson driver is a mess at this time (copy back too). I don't use it except for HEVC (you can set LAV in this way) but in Italy this is not commonly used yet, so I can test it only with a few samples. RX 460 is more powerful than HD 6670 but it's not good enough for unlocking the full potential of Madvr, that is the real difference between it and EVR. Moreover, it's not only about processing power but about right Madvr settings (very demanding) performance and reliability too. I confirm that I've never seen the long stop issue, the only issues that I can see are about coming back from 3D to 2D and, sometimes, the "empty" Basic Menu, as I wrote. Only an important note: I am on Win 8.1 64bit, I don't know what happens with other Windows versions.
