Hi,

Is there any way to make channels from other muxes unavailable in the guide, when viewing/recording a channel from another mux?
Basically like the functionality that the Humax DVB PVR boxen have.
I know I can record one channel and watch another from the same mux, but it's hard to know from the guide, which channels are on which mux, therefore if I tune accidentally to a channel on a seperate mux whilst recording a channel on another mux, MP crashes (ie I must then Ctrl-Alt-Del/Logoff)

What would be fantastic is that unavailable channels on other muxes are greyed out and unselectable, while channels on the same mux are still available.

Also, I liked the genres colour feature in MP, is this going to make its way into singleseat client/server ?

MP crashes (ie I must then Ctrl-Alt-Del/Logoff)

Rather than try and turn something off, let try and solve the real problem, should just give you a unavailable message.

Repeat what you did using MPTestool, found in your programs menu and post logs.

As PD said you need to post your logs so we can help.

When I test in single tuner situation MP does as you are requesting.

If I choose TV channels then the list shows the available and unavailable listed as per MUX/frequency.

If I select a channel that is on another MUX to that which is being recorded then MP politely tells me that NO tuner is available. This later part also with the EPG

It doesn't crash so there must be a bug with your setup, hence the logs would be helpful to see what is going wrong.

Thanks for the replies, will try this with the test tool and report.
Will the genre colours make a return?

OK, what I did and the result

I launched TVServer configuration in the background and activated the Manual Control section, so I could see what the server was doing.
Launched the MPTestTool and clicked 'Perform actions before test', the clicked launch MP.
MP started in windowed mode so I could see what the TVServer was doing in the background.
I selected ITV3 and told MP to record, no problem and can see that happening in the TVServer in the background.
Then I selected to view BBC1 (different mux) and was told no free card. Fine.
Then I selected ITV2 (same mux) and MP froze. In the background I could see that ITV3 was recording and ITV2 was timeshifting so all should be OK, right?
I brought the TVServer window to the front and then clicked MP to bring it back to the front, and the TVServer window remained drawn over MP. I chose exit from the MP windows and waited for ages, lots of HDD activity before MPTestTool finally spat out its file.
    TVServer is still recording ITV3
The file generated is 25Mb in size, is that massive or is it just me? The file 'tvserver_TSWriter.log' would be 462Mb in its unpacked state!

Are files generated by MPTestTool usually that large? Surely you don't want me to upload that?

As per my original post, it would be nice if the EPG would make channels unavailabe for selection (rather than saying no card when selected). BTW SciDoctor, how are you pulling up TV Channels? ('If I choose TV channels then the list shows the available and unavailable listed as per MUX/frequency.')

    What should I do next?

The logs would have been helpful.

What you are probably seeing is the seriously buggy TIMESHTIFING which doesn't produce the correct audio/video/sub channels and then causes MP GUI to freeze as it can't connect to filters (the latest code produces

repeated until you close MP usualy by the task manager.)

This doesn't affect the recording which is correctly produced/format.

To check this you can use VLC to open the timeshifting files produced and when you click on the tabs for audio/video etc you will find there are NO audio channels and TWO video channels.

Nothing you can do about this atm

I reported this in a post some time ago and haven't used TIMESHIFTNG for some weeks as it is so buggy either crahsing MP or TSWRITER.ax.

I just start a channel/program recording and watch the channel while it is recording if I want live TV, this works perfectly local or network.

I fail to see why this is so difficult to produce sucesfully within the TIMESHIFTING code when the TS stream starts/records fine.

    Pretty serious I'd say

Considering timeshifting is a core functionality of the TVService.
So is it not possible to record and view 2 channels from the same mux simultaneously at the moment?
I'll upload the logs minus that massive tswriter file if you think it could help.

Again, how do you get a list of channels where some are shown as unavailable?
    Thanks for helping

Multiple recordings on the same MUX is fine it is just the timeshfting that fails.

IN MP GUI select 'CHANNEL' this brings up the minguide and each channel has status in ().

The status appears if you are recording as this locks the tuner/MUX.

TIMESHIFTING on its own doesn't lock a TUNER/MUX.

The main EPG doesn't show the status.

As for logs, the TSWRITER log isn't deleted/renewed between sessions like the other logs and just gets bigger.

With TVserver stopped you can delete all TVserver logs and start afresh, this will now produce a smaller end package for uploading.

Just noticed you've never been officially thanked ;p
Will mull over fresh logs to look for what you posted and upload them if it's something different.
Is there any particular reason why channels can't be marked unavailable in the EPG?

    Thankyou .

No reason as such but the EPG fileld and coding aren't present atm.

For the future it would be a good idea to inform status via the EPG as the present failsafe of 'tuner unavailable' after what could be sometimes a long wait is little backward.

In defence though I would say single tuner setups are probably in the minority now where the problem is lessend but not eliminated.

I hope focus is being spent on getting the basic timeshifing stable which seems to have been struggle in the past months for the devs.
