Hello,
I just tried to install MediaPortal.
In the TV Server Configuration, under TV Servers no Server Card is visible. It seems like I should install it manually? How can I do this?
Please find my system configuration below, and the "tv.log" attached.

Many thanks for your help in advance,
Best regards,
Nalex

My System - Windows XP SP3 with MCE vs. 1 (Update-Rollup for MCE 2 does not install) on an (old) Sony Vaio VGX-XL201 machine
MY TV Card : Avermedia Hybrid TV Tuner Card - A16C

    Hello and welcome :)

I'll get straight to the point: there is some kind of problem detecting tuners on your system. If you can be patient for 5 hours or so I will provide a patch to attempt to fix the problem.

    Thanks for your help.
Just one more thing I just remembered.
According to the Wiki/Installation Guide, after installation the MySQL-Server should have asked me for the password I set, right? But I was only asked once, DURING installation, for the password I wanted to set. Afterwards, I was not asked anymore. How can I check and see if the Database is running like is should be?

    Many thanks,
    nalex

    Hello Nalex

Thanks for the PM and your patience. :D
In response to your question: the installation will have asked whether you wanted to install a DB. Then when you first try to open TV Server configuration it will come up with the dialog that asks for your connection details:
    SetupDatabaseConnection.png

After that, all being well you should never see it again.
The easiest way to verify that your DB is running is to check task manager (press ctrl+alt+del). For MySQL, there should be a mysqld.exe process running. Alternatively open the Windows service management console:
    1. Right click on "my computer".
    2. Select "manage".
    3. Expand the "services and applications" section.
    4. Select "services".
    5. Now on the right hand side of the console you should have a list of the services installed on your computer. The MP TV service is one of them ("TVService"). Your DB will also be one of them ("MySQL").
    6. Find the service in the list and look at the status column - it should say "started". You can start/stop/restart the service manually by clicking on the actions in the top left part of the right hand section in the console.

However I think all of that may be irrelevant to the problem that you are experiencing. At least according to the tv.log that you supplied.
So for that reason, what I'm asking you to do is:
    1. Open Windows Explorer and navigate to "C:\Program Files\Team MediaPortal\MediaPortal TV Server" (or wherever you installed the MP TV Server).
    2. Take a backup of the TVLibrary.dll file that should be in that folder.
    3. Download and extract the attached replacement DLL into that folder.
    4. Now try to open TV Server configuration again. I expect it to come up with a message telling you that the TV service is not running and ask you if you want to start it. Click yes.

Expect this to fail again. The DLL is only to try and identify what is causing the failure. I'll need the tv.log file and error.log file (if there is one) from C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Team MediaPortal\MediaPortal TV Server\log.

    Thanks,
    mm

    Hello mm,
    Many thanks for your help.
(Unfortunately), things were going as you said. ;-)
    1. MySQL is running.
    2. The TV-Server Configuration did start up and request to start the service
    3. The TV-Server Configuration again did not recognize the TV Card.
Please find attached the two log files you were asking for (relevant is the stuff after 21:30 ). For good measure I also uploaded those for the installation and from the MediaPortal.
One more remark, the systems I installed MediaPortal on has a working installation of Windows XP MediaCenter. That would not be blocking the installation of a different Media Center, would it?

Have a good start into the new week,
    Best regards,
    nalex888

PS - I know Google Translate exists, but sometimes its translations are not that good. You may also speak German (or at least understand the "Techie Version" of it which the error message is), but for all it just might be worth it, here my attempt at translations of the messages:

    Hello again Nalex

Thanks for the logs... but it looks to me like the patch hasn't been applied properly - I'm not seeing the debug that I expected to see. Could you please try to repatch one more time and repost just the tv.log.

    Hi mm,
I think this time I read something about "debug" beginning at 0.25 or so...

    Many thanks,
    Nico

    Hello Nico

Thanks - this new log contains the information I was expecting to see. :)
Now I can see where the problem is occurring. I will provide an updated patch for you this evening (it is noon here and I am at work at present - sorry) that should fix the problem.

    *Thank you* for your persistence!

    Hi again Nico

The promised patch is attached. :)
Hopefully it will allow your tuner to be detected and finally continue using MP.
It would help us greatly if you could post the tv.log again after trying the DLL - this will enable us to fix the problem in the best possible way.

    Thank you again,
    mm

    Dear mm,
Thanks a lot for the patch. Sorry that I did not try it earlier, but for some reason my email account did not tell me of your second post, so that I only saw it yesterday.
The recognition of the card is working now, when I started the TV-Server Configuration, I saw the card.
Initially, when I was starting the TV-Server Configuration, I get the next error message "Microsoft SI/PSI parser outdated! - Your version 0.0.0.0 of Psisdecd.dll has too many bugs! Please check our Wiki's requirements page." but I managed to solve this with entry - https://forum.team-mediaportal.com/threads/microsoft-si-psi-parser-outdated.38299/
Then I tried to scan for channels, but I got "Unable to scan - Please install a supported audio/video encoder for your software analog card." and the scanning stopped.
I have to go now, but I will try to solve that next, I hope I find something in the forums here...

I attached the latest TV log for you,
    Thanks again,

    nalex888
