I already searched the forum but did not really came to a result!

I have a Series that has no images (Banner/Cover) and I want to manually add these images. Is there any possibility? I cannot find a button for this and already tried to put the right images in the folders where the images for the others series are stored (altered for the series of course)!

Thank for your help!

Just a short question to add: Can I change the "Sort By"-Title? I did so but it never gets saved!

Sign up at TheTVDb.com website and add the images there, this way they will benefit the entire community, the same way you enjoy the work from others. Once added, they will automatically be added on the next import update on your HTPC.

Uploading them to thetvdb.com is very nice of course, if the artwork is of high quality.
I still think his question is valid thou, I have a couple of obscure series with no artwork available at thetvdb.com and I can't find any images that are of high enough quality to construct art worthy of uploading there, in this case I might be ok with having a lower quality piece of art instead of no art at all, thus making it a necessity to manually add it in the script somewhere.

I already thought of uploading them but on the one hand it's about image quality as Ragman said. On the other hand I'm not sure about copyrights so I'm "afraid" of uploading them.

So a way to manually add the images would be really cool!

there is enancement request i've made on issue tracker on google code about this, but since then i realized it's better to upload (even crappy) images to tvdb.. having the possibility of custom images would certainly have impact on contributions and that's not good :)

There is the rule to not upscale any images on thetvdb.com, but I still do it when a show has no artwork at all, and high res is hard to find. I'm sure more users concur that it is better to have 'something', then nothing, what's the point otherwise. Of course, once proper material comes available, the crappy quality stuff should be removed.

But exhaust any option you have to obtain higher quality material on Google/Bing image searches first.

Of course limit the upscalling, minimum requirements for backdrop is 720p, as in 1280x720, so don't upscale a 200x180 image, but a 1024x768 with the right graphic tools can create a very nice 1280x720 result with a little bit of cropping to avoid stretching. If you are talented enough you can also do the actual reason for fanarts and that is to create your own backdrop, usually by editing/merging multiple images.

Paint.NET and Gimp are free graphic tools that can upscale very nicely as well as be used to edit/merge, assuming you don't already have a better one such as PaintShopPro or PhotoShop. Even Vista/Win7 Paint does a reasonable job, but Paint.NET has better algorithms/plugins.

Ok thanks for the explanation. I will see what I'm going to do...

But does anybody have an answer for the question added to the first post?

"Can I change the "Sort By"-Title? I did so but it never gets saved!"

I've changed it on a lot of movies, and it always gets saved.

The changes are lost when a movie gets re-imported, or a forced refresh, but you get warnings before you apply such actions.

Try changing it, close MovPic config, and then re-open it, see if it indeed resorted back to the old value, because either you are not editing it correctly, or there is a problem in your configuration. The log files in debug mode should clarify that.

Are we really talking about the same plugin? It looks like you were talking about Moving Pictures but I mean TV Series.

I tried to the the name again but as far as I select another Series and switch back to the Series where I edited the "Sort-By" field it is changed to the default.

I also set the log level to debug but I think that there is nothing interessint in it:

Oops my bad, I check the MP-TVSeries and MovingPictures forums a lot, so things got crossed :)

And yes, everytime MP-TVSeries runs an import update scan on your collection, it overwrites all those fields with the information it gets from TheTVdB.com website. However you are right, it would be nice if the SortBy field can be excluded from those updates if they have been changed. I believe there is an existing Google code issue on this problem (if not I'll create one).
