Oh dear, I'm afraid it could be the fact that you use W2K. There's not much we can do about your problem then, our system requirements are XP with SP2. There is some kernel stuff in XP SP2 that we use, and earlier windows versions simply don't have them. Sorry about that...

Maybe you have the chance to try it all with an XP on another partition to find out if that is the problem? Using W2K would also explain the missing values in MediaPortal.log. And without those values I can't add non-Microsoft receivers as long as I don't have them here.

I will try MP with XP SP2 tomorrow - I also will look if I'll get the bda drivers for my KNC1 DVB card working under XP.
Well if I get all working under XP SP2 maybe I'll just use MP under XP. And then take the time to get all the useless bloated stuff/services deactivated in XP...
My HFSLIPed version of w2k just works so fine, but well maybe I'll have to just give XP a try.
Played around with TVCentral now a bit - not very satisfying...

If you try XP (for testing please try a full, not stripped XP, some users recently had some bad problems/crashes because of stripped down XPs), post those lines from your log here again, please, using the latest SVN version you can get.

I too am having the same problem, but I have XP, and it worked on RC 4 all along until today's SVN. Many of the buttons on my MCE remote (My TV, My Videos, More/Info, etc) have no effect. Play, pause, stop, etc still work, however. I've tried both the HID and MCE options, both on/off, one on, the other off, nothing works.

It's mostly working now, thanks mPod.

Only problem now is the green button won't open MP from the tray, works ok once MP is open.
For that feature you still need the mptray helper application smirnuff once coded. I'm gonna have a look at it how that function can also be included into MP directly. Great to hear that your receiver came back to live!

xemumanic, I just checked it here, it works perfectly with my genuine Microsoft receiver. If you still have problems, tell me what remote/receiver combination you have and post your MediaPortal.log to http://mp.pastebin.com. Please post the link back here and be careful that the log doesn't get truncated. Please make two posts to pastbin in that case.

I have tried mphook/mptray now and before with no success.

Just looking at it now and when I press the green button cpu usage jumps to 80% and it makes the MP click sound wave but nothing happens.

After more playing with it i have found the green button is working, MP is opening just not displaying. If I push the green button then another Like the guide or TV button it'll display, but it loses the abillity to navigate or select anything.

So I guess it is working and this is prolly a new bug I have.

Hello mPod:

Now I've set up a XP SP2.
Here are the lines with MCE enabled:
Code:
23.04.2006 12:46:37 MCE: Init
23.04.2006 12:46:37 MAP: using default mappings for Microsoft MCE

23.04.2006 12:46:37 Remote.Init: Failed to open remote (5)
23.04.2006 12:46:37 MCE: MCE remote enabled
23.04.2006 12:46:37 running...

here with HID:
Code:
23.04.2006 12:50:43 Device: \\?\hid#vid_045e&pid_0040#6&296185d6&0&0000#{4d1e55b2-f16f-11cf-88cb-001111000030}
23.04.2006 12:50:43 Remote.Init: Failed to open remote (5)
I did some research what drivers the Zalman HD160 uses.
It's a software called IR Trans from Marcus Müller
Homepage:
http://www.irtrans.de/en/index.php?main.php
Win driver&SW download:
http://www.irtrans.de/en/download/windows.php

This seems to be the exact driver & software that the HD160 uses.
The sourcecode seems to be available as well.

I've used the your svn from yesterday. The play/stop... buttons still don't work.
