I've been using MediaPortal for many years. For the last couple of years, I've been getting my television EPG info from Microsoft via mc2xml. I've just noticed that there is no data past the end of this month. The file is downloaded every day as expected, but the last date for the programs is July 26. I can delete the tvguide.xml file and force a new download, but the result is the same. This is using the "Legacy Service".

Can anyone confirm that this configuration is still working for them? Is Microsoft discontinuing the Legacy Service?

Thanks,

RonD

there is also a wmc/epg changes thread in avsforum, a MP1/mc2xmlx,ltv user says he used a new (not on webpage yet?) mc2xml version
    http://www.avsforum.com/forum/26-ho...de-changes-starting-today-4.html#post35900834

I tried mc2xml v1.3, latest on webpage, with legacy/terrestrial, and only get EPG info up to Sunday July 26. Looking at the mc2xml log output it shows
    Downloaded .. : 963000 bytes in 4s
    Source ...... : Zap2it
    Headend ..... : 260173159 (B94027-)
    Version ..... : 2906262616
    Start time .. : 2015-07-13T00:00:00 UTC
    End time .... : 2015-08-02T23:59:00 UTC
Parsing ..... : Digital Terrestrial Lineup

so it looks like it should have data up to Aug 8 or so, but the end of the guide.xml file shows
    programme start="20150726143000 -0700" stop="20150726170000 -0700" with last date 20150726

I switched to using SchedulesDirect ($25/yr) with mc2xml a few months ago and was getting 2 weeks or so of EPG data using this option. Just checked and my SchedulesDirect/mc2xml EPG only goes up to July 27, 1 more day. Hmm had not noticed.

    Thanks guys,

I was expecting something like that. Ron, the 'new version' of mc2xml is the version that you get if you donate $20 or more. I've been using the free version. Yeah, I'm bad. I should've paid for it. I just sent the money for the new version. :)

I just ran the official SchedulesDirect plugin, and after I surprising length of time, ~40 minutes, it finished and had EPG data until Aug 1. Not sure what is different with SD data download between using the plugin and mc2xml v1.3

    From the logs, start
[2015-07-20 21:21:33,995] [Log ] [SchedulesDirect EPG Client] [INFO ] - Starting EPG refresh job on thread #5
    done
[2015-07-20 22:01:23,818] [Log ] [SchedulesDirect EPG Client] [INFO ] - Electronic Program Guide now updated through 8/1/2015 10:00:00 PM

Last night I violated the "don't screw with EPG/MePo settings after 8PM local time" rule. This afternoon I did a bit more checking with mc2xml_v1.3 download.

using microsoft/legacy for SF Bay area, the downloaded tvguide.xml data ends on July 26, just like last night, the mc2xml output/log info shows
    Downloading . : microsoft.com
    Downloaded .. : 963000 bytes in 7s
    Source ...... : Zap2it

with my SchedulesDirect account, after double checking I've done all the mc2xml changes to REALLY switch to mc2xml_v1.3 with SchedulesDirect, the downloaded tvguide.xml data ends on Aug 8, so both MePo plugin and mc2xml with SchedulesDirect both download 13 or so days of EPG data. For this case mc2xml output/log info shows
    Downloading . : schedulesdirect.org
    Downloaded .. : 1464110 bytes in 13s
    Source ...... : TMSDataDirect

Oh, that's asking for trouble! :D

Have you tried changing DNS settings (as mentioned in TGB thread) to see if you can kick mc2xml from Zap2it over to Rovi?

I did not read the full TGB thread, only skimmed the 1st 2-3 pages. Maybe tomorrow I'll see if there is a way to tweak DNS to point to toward rovi,

But bottom line, if you are willing to pay $25/yr you can get 13 day Schedules Direct EPG using either the plugin or SD with mc2ml_v1.3 and xmltv.

Today I got the 'paid' version of mc2xml and set up my system to use Microsoft's new EPG. Works fine. My EPG data runs until July 31. That's the default length of time - I didn't try to increase it.

Where in that 30+ page 600 mostly irrelevant posts thread is that located?

I hate message board support because it's so time consuming and inefficient
