Media Portal crashes (1 Viewer)

Hi,

I get the following problem with Media Portal, whether recording or not.

The monitor goes to sleep after 10 minutes of inactivity. When I return to the PC, there is a pop-up message on-screen, stating that "Media Portal crashed unexpectedly".

I can't say that this happens every time (maybe with further testing), but it's fairly consistent. When it happened following a recording, it didn't interfere with the programme, so I presume it only happened when I returned to the PC and woke up the monitor.

I've attached some of the log files; let me know if you need any more.

Any ideas what might be causing the problem?

RC4 crashes at resolution change?!

I have the same problem, and it seems like windows changes resolution when I turn off the tv, and this triggers a DirectX error. I have a VNC server on my media center that is how I can see that the resolution is changed when the TV is turned off.
The strange thing is that I didn't have the problem in RC3. I made a fresh installed of windows xp before installing RC4.

Glad I'm not alone.

I also get the problem if I do the following:

1. schedule a recording and then put the PC into standby,
2. the PC fails to wake up and record, so I power it on,
3. when I enter the password at the log-on screen and press <CR>, XP just hangs with the password asterisks visible,
4. I have to kill the Media Portal application in Task Manager and when I do so, the "Media Portal crashed unexpectedly" message is displayed.
5. After that, I can log in to XP.

Is this posting enough to have this recorded as a bug or do I have to do something further?

Nvidia, have you got "restart mediaportal on resume" enabled.

T500, has it's own drawbacks on resume, so would love it if you could supply logs collected without MP being involved, ie shutdown and let Powerscheduler put system into standby, this may help narrow things down.

Yes, 'Restart Media Portal on Resume' is ticked, as is 'Allow S3 Standby...'.

Can you clarify what exact steps I should take to get the log please?

I haven't reported any MP bugs previously.

Great; so it looks like it may be resolved soon.

I don't think this explains why my PC doesn't resume from standby though. I've checked the BIOS setting and it's set to S3.

Any other reasons why it might not be waking up?

In case it's relevant, my PC dual boots with XP (default) and Vista. On a normal power-up, if Vista is not selected, XP boots up after 30 seconds.

If the system is not responding for recordings, then the chances are nothing is going to happen without a manual intervention, which could involve stop\start tvserver, cntrl-alt-delete or a reboot.

All i know is if things go well, i will have my 2 tuners back after a resume, but i think i have totally borked my system by trying SP2 beta, so going to reinstall.

Is there any other way to get this working?

I don't want to leave a PC running 24/7, so this is a show-stopper for me (and others, I would guess).
