thanks. I will give it a shot. An update...I completely unistalled media portal, including deleting the team media portal and a manual registry scan. then reinstalled it again and took most of the defaults. We'll see what happens in the morning.

Uninstalling and reinstalling worked. I don't know what I did to screw it up, but as I mentioned before, I totally nuked MediaPortal from my pc, and then reinstalled it. It was good practive, anyway. Thanks for everyone's help.
