Hi shadowze

Any word from some one offical when they will fix this bug ?

It is only a recent change surely someone could remove the offending code ?
I think it would be helpful to get other people to confirm the issue and then we can start looking at the code. The delay that you're talking about seems to be here:

2011-12-16 20:17:20.579101 [Info.][FilterChecker(5)]: FilterChecker: Found TsReader.ax from 21/07/2011 located at C:\Program Files (x86)\Team MediaPortal\MediaPortal\TsReader.ax
2011-12-16 20:17:21.080078 [Info.][FilterChecker(5)]: FilterChecker: Found quartz.dll from 28/02/2011 located at C:\Windows\SysWOW64\quartz.dll

That is smack bang in the middle of skin loading. Seems a funny place for MP to be trying to spin up network attached storage. The first thing I would try is to delete the Cache folder in C:\ProgramData\Team MediaPortal\MediaPortal and see if that makes any difference. Note that is a hidden folder so paste the path into the address bar in Windows explorer or enable viewing of hidden and system files and folders.

mm

Deleted cache folder as requested , still took ages to load up media portal

So it is still still waiting on the Nas share to become available

These are NOT mapped shares , I am accessing them directly eg
\\nas\Public2\videos\tv
Is is one of the video shares

Why dont I make a default folder ?
Because I want to display my list of shares and not have to back out of the default one every time is start this app

Its got nothing to do with a domain server , it is some code in media portal that is

:waitloop

try and access share

If sharefolder not accessible goto waitloop

do other stuff like load here
That is where this delay is coming from

So this is just with default music and video plugins?
Are you able to narrow this down to one or the other?

    Hi,

I have all my media stored on NAS (QNAP 439 Pro), I don't see any problems related to this.

I did have a performance problem when starting MP but that turned out to be that MP tried to connect to the TV server using IPv6. See https://forum.team-mediaportal.com/television-mytv-frontend-tv-server-90/occasional-delay-when-entering-tv-home-104602/#post832258

Try to use SysInternal's TCPViewer to find out if any out going connection takes too long time to establish. Try to set IP instead of computer name, this to circumvent any name resolution problems.

I just put all IP and PC names in windows host file.

I will see what happens then ...

In the MP dialog selecting folders e.g pictures it is not possible to select a network device?! Selection only via network share is possible?!

Unfortunately at the end this makes no difference. We talk about a typical windows network problem.

Problem here is accessing a share or network which is not available because is my case my server is in standby. so share is not available. explorer hangs ( and so MP) for about 15 sec until the error messages came.

The solution would be if there would be a trigger in windows where this timeout can be edited?!

I found a lot of post in the web where people have additional problems, unfortunately I did not find any solution until now.

If I'm not mistaken there should be a WOL plugin to MP, so you should be able to wake up your networked devices when MP starts. There is also an built-in option to wake the MP TV server, if you are running a multiseat environmnet.

Regarding the selection of folders, you should set a share. I can't really understand why you would like to set a device...

I don't want to select a device some people siad I should select are device. I use the wol plugin. Never the less i have issues until the share is available MP hangs .... You should not press any button on the remote, ...MP crashes as well as MP absolutely slow when server is in standby again.

    Yep just the default ones

I deleted all of my video shares with one music share left

    It still delays upon start-up

regarding WOL , no use , the qnap is powered on and running it is just the drives that are spun down

Is your Qnap set to spin down the hard drives when nothing is happening ?
