The entire release schedule got messed up because there were several unexpected showstopper bugs to fix in 1.2.0 Alpha.
So no. There wont be 1.2.0 Beta in november.

The Roadmaps as of today show the following:

MediaPortal 1.2.0 beta (Scheduled For Release 2011-02-24) 83% complete
TV Server 1.2.0 beta (Scheduled For Release 2011-02-24) 52% complete
Installers 1.2.0 beta (Scheduled For Release 2011-02-24) 50% complete

So it will be a little while yet.

I have moved the release dates yesterday because there is quite some work missing for 1.2.0 beta, and we are not sure how long it will take to get that done.
So the release could be earlier or even later than what the roadmap says currently.
All depends on the sparetime available for our team members during the x-mas days.

I see that a new playback feature allowing for play all (and shuffle all) video files in a folder is going to be available in 1.2 (Videos - MediaPortal Wiki)

My guess is that this functiality doesn't extend to plugins like Moving Pictures and MP-TV Series. Are these features that would have to be added by the developers of those plugins specifcally, or could there be a way to give this playback option globally?

Unfortunately, it's related to My Videos/Share view only.
