I already understand what you mean but do me the favour and check this behaviour with a flac file - yeah i know not everyone uses flac but it should be considered when chosing the default DB.

Re: AW: Re: MediaPortal 2 progress report

Will MP2 also use the Win7 libraries if you want instead of replicating everything win7 users already ahve there in a libary of it's own ?

I'd be happy just with the ability to add the video library to video's in MP2 though. but still proper support in the same vein as WMP, Zune and now even Spotify would be nice.

I think nothing speaks against a WMP library media provider... We'll see if it makes sense.

One problem is that you have to "hack" it to include network places in a Windows 7 library. But apart from that it sounds like a good idea to me. :)

As I said before, networked folders works IF they're on an indexed/library folder on another win7 computer or XP/Vista with windows search 4+

If it's a NAS device or somethign that can't use this and this can't index the folders, then yeah you need to do some trickery.

It will definitly not include Extensions like MovingPictures and TVSeries.
MP2 will provide basic features a HTPC application needs.
Extensions (Plugins and Skins) always were a strong part of MediaPortal, and this will not change in MP2.
But the way how to get those extensions into your MediaPortal 2 installation will become a lot easier than it is now.

Thats what Albert allready explained in his posts. ;)

+1 wolfi_b - and MPEI is still brand new. Imagine what it can do after most extensions start using it and it gets developed further! AFAIK, MPEI has been designed so it can be easily incorporated in MP2 as well.

Party pooper! I still think a working, successful concept design like MPEI is worth its weight in gold! Even if we have to change the code for MP 2.

I am not sure the best place to ask but is the MP2 source code available for express versions?
