I have installed Mediaportal 15.1.0 (Gigabyte mb, TBS DVB-S card, RX480 graphics and win 10 64bit) and it plays SD TV fine but will not play any HD TV channels (or recordings) without the picture breaking-up badly.

If I change from EVR to VMR9 renderer all works. What have I missed?

I have tested with DVB Dream and Live HD works OK, which I guess eliminates the hardware...

Debug log attached...

    Hi

It looks like you're using a non-standard version of MP:
    [2016-09-25 15:28:34,770] [Log ] [MPMain ] [INFO ] - Main: MediaPortal v1.15.0.625 is starting up on Windows 10 [10.0.14393.0]
    [2016-09-25 15:28:34,770] [Log ] [MPMain ] [INFO ] - Build: 1.13.0-625-g1c5191a-MP1-4781-FEAT-Adding_madVR_support_TsReader_Mod

You need to get support from the person who supplied you with that build.

I remember seeing this at one user, he has hybrid video card (Intel / Nvidia or Intel / Amd) and to be able to use MP, it was needed to disable one of 2 cards.
If i'm not wrong it was on HP laptop and MP failed after GPU update driver.

This is not the case for you but maybe a wrongly GPU driver are in place ?

I have try your mediaportal.xml and LAV is set correctly :) but MP use another codec, it does that because LAV can't be used (no clue why) maybe it's needed to reinstall LAV Filter suite from original Nevcairiel dev website.

If you start configuration, are you able to click on screwdriver and watch if codec settings window comes ?

Obvious when you know how :)

It looks like LAV filters are working (screwdriver dialogue etc) but Mediaportal does not see them!
I have re-installed win10, graphics driver and Mediaportal to no effect.
I also downloaded and re-installed LAV filters to no effect.

The question is how on earth do I debug this problem?

but Mediaportal does not see them!
    One possible explanation...
MP will only see and be able to use the 32 bit (x86) version of the LAV codecs (...because MP is 32 bit software).
If you have installed the 64 bit (x64/x86-64) version of the LAV codecs then that is the problem.

The installer installs both x86 and x64. I removed them and re-installed selecting only x86.
Now the filters look correct connecting to remote graph...

    But...
The problem is still there - YouTube vid showing the problem in case it helps https://youtu.be/JgQEazfwZmw
