I recently upgraded from 1.8 to 1.9. Anytime I do any configuration changes with the MediaPortal Configuration and exit from it, it crashes. The part that "crashes" says it's from bass_vis.dll. Processor goes to 100% unless stopped from task manager.

    Thanks,

Personally I can't find any errors that leads me to the clue.. But to be honest, I'm no developer, but maybe someone else can help here..

    @Developers ?

I don't see anything useful in the logs either.
Maybe your Mediaportal.xml is corrupt, tough i tried with it on my machine and no crash happened.

Please rename it or delete it and restart with Config.

Maybe you can perfom another installation (select reinstall) maybe some component was not copied correctly :)

Hi good people. More to add - mediaportal does it on exit as well. Did a re-install and same thing. Running Windows 7 Pro x64.[DOUBLEPOST=1412382164][/DOUBLEPOST]

I think that may have done the trick. I renamed the file, opened config, it said it couldn't find the file a few times, and then I guess it created a new one. All seems well right now.[DOUBLEPOST=1412382392][/DOUBLEPOST]I spoke a little too soon. It no longer "crashes" on close, however, when I hit OK when finished with Configuration, it doesn't actually close it. It's still running in task manager.

Some task can lock MP config in background like Picture database (scanning etc).

    Hello,

I have exactly the same issue with two installations. Also upgrades from 1.8 to 1.9:
    - After click on "OK", or "Cancel" in "Configuration.exe", the window closes, but the process is still active and now the CPU usage raises to ~50%-100%...
    - If I look at thread list for "Configuration.exe", the process is terminating with an APPCRASH.
    - Nothing in the log.

Deleting the XML's and starting with new ones doesn't fix the problem. And of course, that's not an upgrade (loosing all settings). And of course, it's all working with 1.8. Deleting "bass_vis.dll" can't also be the way to go...

Still curious why there is a "fixed" in the thread title?

Well, my personal "fix" is to replace "bass_vis.dll" and "BassVisAPI.Net.dll" (v2.4.4.1) with the ones from MP 1.8 (2.4.4.0). That's working for me.

But there should be an official way... And if v2.4.4.1 is working with a new installation, why doesn't this version work after an upgrade from 1.8 to 1.9?

Maybe the upgrade didn't go well missing replaced dll or something. but you could always post log for analyse :)
