Thanks i will try that later on...

BTW i could also choose YCbCr444 from the Nvidia control panel..in this case cant change the low or normal blacklevel of my TV as it will be greyed out (normal is shown but greyed out so i am not sure what is chosen automatically)

YCbCr is 0-255 there is no limited option.

Since RGB full doesn't seem to work properly on your setup and you have a requirement for wtw and btb then I'd recommend you set your gpu to either RGB Limited or YCbCr. Preferably YCbCr. Don't do any conversion in lav

Full RGB would be fine if you didn't insist on btb wtw.[DOUBLEPOST=1441967667][/DOUBLEPOST]Btw: i assume you have you tried to put your Sony tv into pc mode at 60hz with direct refresh rate changer disabled and bypass avr?

None of these settings seems to change anything if LAV is setup as attached. The only i managed to see BTB and WTW in MePo is to tick one or more of the RGB options in LAV as highlighted on the screenshot.

I did not try using PC mode cause its limited in many ways .. i think you can only setup brightness and contrast thats it.
Its a Samsung TV not Sony btw. ;)

That's very strange. I think you are doing something wrong somewhere.

I actually use pc mode on my Samsung tv now bc it does proper 4:4:4. The factory calibration was correct.

Concerning YCrCb ranges, this is what the HDMI spec 1.3a document says in section 6.6:

Black and white levels for video components shall be either "Full Range" or "Limited Range."
YCBCR components shall always be Limited Range while RGB components may be either Full
Range or Limited Range. While using RGB, Limited Range shall be used for all video formats
defined in CEA-861-D, with the exception of VGA (640x480) format, which requires Full Range.

(See attached image for the detail)

Basically YCrCb is *always* Limited Range (16-235 for Y, 16-240 for Cr & Cb)

Yup typo. Sorry YUV is 0-255 (but 0-16 and 235-255 is typically empty) and ybcbcr is 16-235.

Owlsroost has a good suggestion of using desktop clipping image.

    Hi there
i just did the tests with the patterns Owlsroost provided using the following setup:

    TV: blacklevel low (16-235)
    GPU: RGB 0-255
    Renderer: EVR
LAV: RGB32 option ticked and RGB output untouched

Brightness on TV turned up for testing

    Result:

Levels bmp show correctly (windows picture viewer)
Level.wmv difference between video black and pc black and video white can be seen
ramp.mpg shows differences between 0-16 and 235-255. one step can be seen inbetween for both

Same settings as before but unticked RGB32 too:

Levels bmp show correctly (windows picture viewer)
Level.wmv difference between video black and pc black and video white can be seen
ramp.mpg shows NO differences between 0-16 and 235-255.

I have attached screenshots of the ramp.mpg

Btw.: i might no longer "insist" on using BTB and WTW because i recognized additonally that my ambilight (Atmowin/Ambibox and Sedu) seems to not show blacks correctly anymore..

If levels.bmp shows correctly when GPU set to 0-255 RGB when viewed by picture viewer (not a media player) then your display/avr is not clipping levels.
