MediaPortal & Free Alternative to Daemon Tools (1 Viewer)

I was looking into Daemon Tools but it turns out that

1) it only supports up to 32 virtual drives.
2) it's not free

I assume 2) might be moot if MediaPortal mounts an iso file only when a movie is started. Is this happening or can I only have 32 movies in my library?

Regarding 1) is there an free alternative to Daemon Tools or a completely different approach then generating iso files (I justed started ripping movies so I can still change on what I do).

I am a bit confused with your usage of 1 and 2

a) quote from deamon tools: DAEMON Tools is freeware ONLY for PRIVATE USE.

b) only mounts when you select iso file.

I use Daemon Tools Lite to mount my ISO files.
You don't mount a different drive for each DVD!
You must use automount in Daemon Tools Lite (I chose M: drive), also disable auto mount notifications.
Then you must configure mediaportal Daemon tools settings in the Mediaportal Configuration.
Note that you don't even have Daemon tools running in system tray once you have configured it as it calls the exe automatically.
In RC4 the Daemon Tools Configuration can only be seen in advanced mode of Mediaportal Configuration.
Daemon Tools Lite is free.

From what I have gathered is that Mediaportal prefers the file format of DVDs.
This is the default format when you install DVD Decryptor if you use that.
The IMDB scanning appears to work better with file format DVDs than ISO format.
That said I use mostly ISOs and also a few file format.

Great. I looked at the comparison chart and they only listed the commercial Lite version. I found the one for personal use. Considering that I also don't have any limitations in the number of movies (as expected) this seems to be a fine solution. Thanks.

The only question now is if I chose "Copy Non-DVD files" and enable "Change DVD plyback order" and "Remove annoying PGCs" in HD Decrypter if Media Portal would have any problems. But I guess I better put that into anohter thread.
