Thanks for the logs - they're perfect.
I've had a look and it looks like the tuner is simply reporting that it can't find any signal. I'll have to provide you with a patch that gives me more detailed information about exactly what the tuner is saying, but I won't be able to do that until I get home (might be a few more hours away). If you have some time on your hands, can you please try the patch from -->here<--. I don't expect it to work in the sense that everything would suddenly start to work properly. However, it may allow TV Server to find the radio stations. If it doesn't work, please provide logs for a scan just like you did before. If it does work then just let me know...

Just to be sure I re-checked the FM tuner with WMC and it works. The signal is not very strong but it does work.
Do not hesitate to let me know if I can provide you with any additional information.

Sorry for the delay. I've attached a new patch for 1.1.3 that adds the patch from the other thread to the Adaptec patch from this thread, with some debug to tell me why TV Server thinks the tuner can't ever lock FM stations. Please do a scan like you did before and post the logs.

Well, it did something different now: it started scanning and when it got to 87.70 I could see the Signal Level go up but it then stopped.

The logs are great - they tell me everything I need to know.
Basically, your tuner does not follow the Microsoft BDA driver standard for reporting FM signal strength. It should return 0 if it has no signal, 1 if it has signal, and -1 if it is still detecting the signal as per the standard information here. What it seems to do instead is return 0 when it has no signal and 100 when it has signal... which is almost like my tuner (my tuner returns values between 5 and 0 with 5 meaning a strong signal and 0 meaning no signal). MediaPortal couldn't handle that before version 1.2.0b. The patch that I linked earlier (this one) fixed FM radio for me, and it will also fix FM radio for you. I *highly* recommend that you upgrade to 1.2.0b (since the patch is already included there) and you seem to have messed up your 1.1.3 installation by installing the 1.2.0b database updates... which is why the scanning stopped.

So once again:
1. Uninstall 1.1.3 completely (you should probably delete the database as well to be safe).
2. Install 1.2.0b.
3. Apply the patch from here to fix the audio.

After that both TV and FM radio should work.

Sorry it took so long to get back to this. THe PC I have all of my tuners attached to is used by the entire family.

Ran an another test trying to use both of the adaptec tuners. I believe I have your latest patch. Unfortunately I had the same behavior as before. I can preview channels from the first tuner but not the second.

I have attached a debug log.

Here are the steps I followed.
1. scan in a few channels on Tuner 2
2. confirm that when trying to preview you get the dialog box with the "can't tune" error
3. clear channels
4. scan in a few channels on Tuner 1
5. confirm that the channels can be previewed.

Forgot to add something here. Both tuners seemed to work correctly in the immediately previous patch you provided. I didn't extensively test it but it did seem to work.

As I said to xfx, I made a mistake in the "final" patch - sorry. In my defence, the difference between something that works and something that doesn't work is one character so it is easy to do. I'm attaching an updated patch that *should* work with 1.2.0b... both tuners and FM. This one has some extra debug in it that I'm hoping will enable me to automatically detect whether the special Adaptec code should be used. Can one or both of you please try it and post logs. This should be a version that you can use in the longer term until a permanent patch is added to our code.

Just trying to be helpful. Regarding what you consider to be a mistake, no need to say sorry. We have all been there before. To be honest, I am just happy you were able to take an interest in the problem.

I will prepare logs the first change I have.

Here are the log files I created with version 1.2. Both tuners work. xfx mentioned an FM tuner but it doesn't seem to show up in my list of devices.

Did the sam as before. Tuned a couple of channels on the first tuner. confirmed I could preview the stations. Tuned a few more stations on the second tuner. Previewed a station that wasn't on the first tuner.

Both work! Yeah!!
