    Hi again ijourneaux

xfx mentioned an FM tuner but it doesn't seem to show up in my list of devices.
It won't show separately. In the analog tuner scanning section, use the "scan for radio channels" button.

    Both work! Yeah!!
Excellent! I also got the information I need from the logs. :D
Now I'm hoping that other people with different Adaptec tuners will show up here (I've linked to this thread from our team Facebook page ;)) and be able to run a similar debug version so that I can get the information about their tuners. I don't know if you remember me saying that there is specific code for handling Adaptec tuners in TV Server? That code was actually the cause of the problems for your tuner, so clearly there are times that it should *not* be used. Obviously the code wouldn't be there if it wasn't necessary in some cases... or maybe it was necessary in the past but not needed now - not sure. In any case, I would like to be able to compare the information I got from your tuner with information from a tuner that *needs* that code and hopefully add code that would *automatically detect* whether the Adaptec-specific code should be used or not.

Let me know if there is anything else I cna do.
There is nothing more that I need from you, other than to know what version of drivers you're using [for the AVC-3610]. You can go and enjoy the use of the tuners. :)

With WIndows 7 the AVS-3610 drivers are loaded by default. The driver listed in Device Manager is 1.7.2.1100 from Adaptec dated 11/16/2005. Under XP I was only ever able to locate a driver under the HP name. The AVS-3610 was rebranded by HP in the WIndows mediacenter PC several years back.

    Thanks a gain.

I feel a little hesitant to install 1.2b
It has taken me sometime to get 1.1 working just the way I want and I'm extremely happy with it.
Am I being a bit too paranoid?

    Hi again xfx

I'm only recommending that you upgrade because your installation seemed like it was a little messed up to me. I saw strange things in your logs... kinda like you upgraded your DB to 1.2.0b, but you're still using 1.1.3. The 1.2.0b database structure is not compatible with 1.1.3 so that would cause you problems unless you did a full reinstall (deleting database) *or* you upgrade to 1.2.0b. I think 1.2.0b is awesome, but there can be a few issues... especially if you're using either DVB-IP, ATSC or QAM. The DLL I've provided removes some of those problems and 1.2.0rc is not far away. Perhaps wait for 1.2.0rc - hopefully I can get the patch committed in time...

i registered because you were looking for others with this tuner

    specs:

    tv server--
    mp1.2 beta server only
    windows 7 ultimate x64
    6gb ram
    ati hd2400
    quad core q8200
ceton infinitv4 quad htdv digital capture
adaptec avc 3610 dual usb analog capture - using composite video inputs with stb

    client--(for testing purposes for now)
    mp1.2beta client only
    1.7 core 2 duo laptop
    1gb ram

although mp1.2 gui is almost all white and messed up on my client, i can still click on menu's and can confirm your patch now makes the 3610 work on the server to broadcast live tv. at first 'preview' in the server config would just crash the config window, but then i realized it was most likely due to trying to preview video in an rdp session.

    here's my card info:
    2011-08-15 00:34:55.082255 [(12)]: debug: device path is @device:pnp:\\?\usb#vid_03f3&pid_0093#026150002926#{65e8773d-8f56-11d0-a3b9-00a0c9223196}\capture

btw, pid 93 is tuner #2 on the adaptec. 91 is tuner #1 which is also used for fm tuning. i am unable to test fm tuning right now as there is no antenna reception in the basement. would be interesting to see how mepo handles recording tv off of tuner 1 while tuning fm....

this is not a rebranded hp model, it is the adaptec straight from the factory. so far i am unable to find the original driver cd for it, but i'm sure its around. moot point for me anyhow, as windows 7 contains the native adaptec drivers.

next step will be to get ir blasting working, then epg reading from an xml pulled from 7mc's epg using mc2xml. then getting mediaportal plugin for xbmc xbox working. long road ahead. but thanks for fixing the adaptec, as mepo does not support the ceton card.

nice to see you dont have to register to download a file. hate having to register just to download a small patch...:D

    Hi and welcome pepsimachine15 :)

Yes the GUI and preview don't work too well over RDP.

That matches what xfx and ijourneaux have reported so that is good. :)

MP wouldn't allow you to do that. Physical limitations of the tuner mean it can only tune FM or TV, not both at the same time. You should be able to get FM on the first tuner with TV on the second tuner (or TV on both) though.

next step will be to get ir blasting working, then epg reading from an xml pulled from 7mc's epg using mc2xml. then getting mediaportal plugin for xbmc xbox working. long road ahead. but thanks for fixing the adaptec, as mepo does not support the ceton card.
Mmm, as much as we'd like to add support for CableCard tuners, the copy protection will probably always put it out of reach. I haven't given up on getting free content working, though it is on the back burner for the moment. In case you haven't seen these, here are some sources of info that might help save you time:
    STB blasting
    XMLTV

Don't hesitate to sing out if you have problems with setup. :)

you misunderstood that part - the preview only was in rdp. the gui was actually loaded
onto the client laptop itself and is completely white, like its missing the graphics files.

    whitemepogui.jpg

not a concern however, as this was just a test client install to see if tv server was
broadcasting an image. also not a topic for this thread.

i dont expect mepo to ever support the ceton. nor mythtv, or any other community app.
it took cablelabs this long to relax their restrictions to allow a multistream cablecard tuner
into the scene, and only working with microsoft and drm would allow this.

as for the adaptec, seems after a reboot of the machine it got a nice bsod. endless bsod
loop of 'bad pool caller' until the tuner was disconnected. the tuner hardware was working,
however, long before this - so i am wondering if mepo or the patch has anything to do with
this. minidump debug however points directly to avcuwil2.sys, the adaptec driver. i uninstalled
tvserver, and the bsod continues. manually uninstalling all driver files and re-downloading
from windows update causes an instant bsod upon driver load. it *is* possible that this
resolves to an irq conflict, but i seriously doubt it as this is a usb device.

i will be reverting back to my full OS drive monthly backup from 2 weeks ago. i'll see if the
problem persists, and try to recreate the bsod without mepo in the picture, and go from there.

restored from monthly full OS drive image, plugged in adaptec, and instant bad pool caller bsod. so it has nothing to do with mepo.

power cycled adaptec tuner, and voila - no more bsod. should have tried that first. how funny hardware can be.

any recommendations on which mepo version will perform best on low end hardware for a 'client only' installation? 1.1.3 or 1.2b?
