Under windows 7 mediaportal ran ok no problems.
with windows 10, if I hibernate and wake the pc with the remote, all is ok.
when I schedule a recording, pc wakes ok but mediaportal is not responding. the tv programme still gets recorded as tv server is running ok. when the programme has finished recording, the pc hibernates as it should do.
when I then wake the pc mediaportal resets to home screen as it should and functions ok.
I have tried resetting windows 10 and doing a fresh install. it made no difference.
I run mediaportal as single seat

    Hi,

If I am understanding you correctly, the issue is that if a scheduled recordin is waking up the machine, you can't use the client front-end? The latest tvser log, which starts Oct 7, does not contain any scheduled event to wake up the PC. Could you please indicate date/time when you were having the problem?

If the above is correct, this may be a simple focus problem and all you need would be to do an Alt-Tab to switch tasks or activate the "always in front" option of MediaPortal in the configuration.

    regards,

thankyou for your reply. you are understanding correctly. I did a test recording today (thursday 8) about 11am using the watchdog to produce the logs. Its definitely not a focus problem. the front end doesn't respond.

I am not clear about the above.

At 10:59:47 there is no scheduled event that should wake up the computer:
[2015-10-08 10:59:47,750] [Log ] [PS StandbyWakeup] [DEBUG] - PS: No pending events found in the future which should wakeup the system

However, some 10 sec later a scheduled recording appears for 11:03 - which, according to the log, was not there before. So you must have created it at this time while the PC was running.
[2015-10-08 10:59:59,240] [Log ] [PS StandbyWakeup] [DEBUG] - PS: LoadSettings()
[2015-10-08 10:59:59,330] [Log ] [PS StandbyWakeup] [DEBUG] - PS: SetWakeupTimer()
    [2015-10-08 10:59:59,370] [Log ] [PS StandbyWakeup] [DEBUG] - PS: Inspecting Scheduled Recordings: 08/10/2015 11:03:00
[2015-10-08 10:59:59,380] [Log ] [PS StandbyWakeup] [DEBUG] - PS: New next wakeup time 08/10/2015 11:03:00 found by Scheduled Recordings
[2015-10-08 10:59:59,390] [Log ] [PS StandbyWakeup] [DEBUG] - PS: Set wakeup timer to wakeup system at 08/10/2015 11:02:00
[2015-10-08 10:59:59,390] [Log ] [PS StandbyWakeup] [DEBUG] - PS: CheckForStandby()

Because of the imminent start of the recording, the PC did not enter standby:
[2015-10-08 10:59:59,400] [Log ] [PS StandbyWakeup] [DEBUG] - PS: Event is almost due (Scheduled Recordings): StandbyPrevented

Since it did not enter standby, it can't have resumed. Sorry, but what exactly is the issue now?

I can definitely say it did enter standby. I used the remote to hibernate, I watched the pc powerdown, then a few minutes later I watched it powerup again. For this test recording I know the times are very close. this always happens when I schedule a recording and it wakes the pc.
if I get home after it has woke up to record a program the only way to use mediaportal is to connect a keyboard, use task manager to close mediaportal then restart it. or wait for the recording to finish and the pc hibernate, then when I wake the pc mediaportal is all ok. it is 100% reproducible on my system.

if I get home after it has woke up to record a program the only way
I am again not clear. What does "If I get home" mean?

May I suggest that you clear the log directory contents, restart the TVServer service, schedule a recording, let the PC go to sleep and reproduce the problem? Please apply more than just two min time before the recording is to start (i.e. a longer time than the no-shutdown defined in the PS prioir to recordings), the PC needs to be woken up by PS. Then collect the logs.

If I have understood the problem scenario correctly, the problem occurs when the HTPC wakes up to perform an unattended recording with the TV switched off. If the TV is then switched on while the HTPC is recording, the MP client is unresponsive.

In contrast, if the HTPC is woken with the TV already switched on, the MP client responds normally.

A work-around is to close the MP client before hibernating the PC. If you are using an MCE-compatible remote control, you can start the MP client from the desktop by using the "Start" button on the remote. So closing the MP client before hibernating is not a great inconvenience. (You can close the MP client using the remote.)

I agree that a proper solution is desirable, but I have no idea what that might be. :(

    new logs posted as suggested.

With reference to CyberSimian post, I did some checks today and having the TV on or off has no effect on what is happening

    Thank you for your help

    @keeperoftraken ,

    The TVServer log keeps showing

[2015-10-09 17:35:16,732] [Log ] [PS StandbyWakeup] [DEBUG] - PS: No pending events found in the future which should wakeup the System

so no recording scheduled... Unless this is to be found in some older log - however, please do not expect me to search through megabytes of data.

thank you for taking the time to look into this.
As suggested I cleared the logs. then using watchdog to start mediaportal. I scheduled a recording for 6pm. Then I let powerscheduler put the pc to hibernate and it woke up just before 6pm and recorded the program. front end was not responsive. but it recorded the tv program ok then powerscheduler put the pc to hibernate again.
As tv programs are being recorded and powerscheduler is putting the pc to hibernate afterwards, its something I can live with.

Thanks to everyone who makes mediaportal the excellent product it is. been using for a number of years now, this is the first problem I've had.
