I will try the streaming server fix. The post from SVN 24669 and the logs attached there are not with DJBlu's TsWriter.ax. I switched back to the TsWriter.ax from this SVN yesterday to continue the testing.

Hey guys,

I have some problems when changing channels and less signal. I changed chanels like hardcore and everything is stable. Changing to a channel with less signal, MP sometimes crashes. 1 out of 10 times, I see the channel (only some blocks and chopy sound). When using MP 1.0.2 it never crashed.

EDIT:
Is there a possibility to not tune the channel, if signal e.g. is <10?!

i did a new clean installation and now everything seems to work better. but i still have problems with the tv part.

my tv server system is a little out of spec ( win server 2008 with vista bda ) and i have the irss plugin installed on the client ( win 7 ).
but besides that no other plugins installed, firewalls & antivir are disabled.

one problem i've got is that after zapping to a new channel i see the timeshift from the channel before for some seconds.
so in the log when switching from "Das Erste" to "SAT 1" the screen gets blank when changing channels for a short time.
but then i get to see the latest ~10 seconds of "Das Erste" again instead of "SAT 1". after these 10 seconds "SAT 1" starts.

another problem i encountered several times is in the logs. after watchin a channel for some time the picture hangs and the sound stutters. starts around 03-02-2010 12:44 ( there starts an endless part in the streaming server.log with "seeking beyond ..." ) while watching "kabel eins". picture hangs forever, and sound won't stop stuttering until changing channels.
after zapping to another channel for the first time ( to "RTL Television" ) nothing happend, the hung picture was on the screen withound sound. after zapping again ( to "RTL 2" ) sound & picture were fine again.


i have experienced some crashs like "onkelchris" after zapping from Kerrang! ( where no graph could be created ) back to a working tv channel. unfortunately i have no logs of that right now, i will provide them when it happens again.

and another problem i have no logs of is that sometimes after no graph could be created on "kerrang" no other channel is working anymore.
on the tv server timeshifting is starting under "manual control", on the client i get "couldn't connect to stream 3.0". after restarting the tv server everything works fine again.

will provide more logs when available.

:EDIT:
before the edit i reported that i could not watch "Kerrang!" ( always got PMT timeout ).
sorry for the confusion, but i just found out that it is a problem of my cable provider.

Now I collected the tvbuffer-file. It crashes at exactly the same position. Will upload this later.

the crash is at 3:10-3:20. when you see "EinsPlus" as channel and the guy shows something on the map. then there is a channel change to "KIKA". you can watch the file in MediaPlayer without problems, only MP is crashing.

I have been having problems with 'broken' TS files being created in MP.
These files do not show video in MP, only audio.
They basically freeze the entire interface and only pressing stop (twice during tv) will stop the video's sound and allow me to control the GUI again.

This problem showed up in the 'Christmas SVN' and has continued on into this one.
The last SVN thread had several unanswered posts about this issue as well, so I will add my 2 cents and a sample file here.

This problem is random, it happens maybe one out of 5-6 times, the other times the files/streams play fine.
This problem is present in Live-TV, as well as recordings.
the 'broken' TS files play fine in other players (MPC-HC, WMP, VLC, WinAmp)

I was able to reproduce this problem by entering Live TV, and starting and stopping the stream over and over until a problem file was created.
I then let it play for 30 seconds or so, then killed MP and grabbed the logs and the TS Buffer files.
I have attached the file and all TV Server logs (link below).

I have tried these problem files on 3 separate machines, I get the same result on all 3 machines.
This is rather annoying, especially when it records a 1 hour long show and the file doesn't work when you try to watch it in MP.
If I convert the file (Using MCEBuddy) it then plays in MyVideos as an MP4.
The original file (.TS) Doesn't work in MyVideos OR recorded TV. (Or Live TV if that is when the problem happens, such as the example file below)


I would appreciate it if a dev could have a look at this and see if he can figure out what is going on, it is hit-and-miss watching recorded shows lately... 1 out of 5 are 'broken' in MP.

when you play my file, the point where "Vogelsberg" appears on the map, is the point where MP crashes.

Tested more today; i was relying on using SHIFT+1 to show dropped frames.
Made a fresh install (again), on the ASROCK ION330HT.
Now i made some new log files (always 5 mins running HDTV), with and without using SHIFT+1 and with and without the "fixed" dshowhelper.
To sum things up: when using shift+1 significant more dropped frames as shown in log files.
Best result: DSHOWHELPER.DLL fix, without using SHIFT+1

Timed 1 min of HDTV:
82 dropped frames
415 dropped frames; using SHIFT+1

Interesting, I wonder how it plays fine on your MP, but I have tried on 3 separate systems (two using this SVN, one using the second to latest SVN) and it is the same result.

You did try playing the TS file inside MP, right?
