Well this is really odd. I've tried all zoom/aspect modes and none help the problem. Any MKVs with the 'Original Display Aspect Ratio' flag play like this in MediaPortal, any without are fine. Its not actually an option in MKV muxing, It seems to be in the stream straight from the DVD...

Any how, whats your setup for playback elliot? Im using latest MediaPortal SVN, latest SAF (beta 23 test 5), PowerDVD 9 codecs.

Windows Vista, MediaPortal SVN, latest Matroska splitter, ffdshow_rev3065_20090902_clsid installed and selected for h264. MPC/MPA for MPEG2, audio. I have avoided codec packs completely and find they are not necessary or helpful (despite the many recommendations of SAF). I prefer to keep my system as clean as possible and use as few codecs as possible for content.

I was the same until I found SAF as it doesn't actually include anything you don't require. My system setup seems very similar except you're running vista and I'm running Windows 7 x64. Only thing I can see thats making the difference. Maybe I'll uninstall SAF and try ffdshow and haali splitter as clean installs.

Anyone got any other ideas?

Is anybody here able to vie live HD with MS-DTV Codec under Win7? I have lot of blocks and sometimes the picture seems to jump between older frames.

Most of the time live HD with MS-DTV Codec under Win7 plays correctly but jump between older frames happens sometimes here too.

mhm OK - does anybody know if there is an update for MS DTV codec for HD? or a beta of a new version of MS codec?

Hello!

1. Crashes on channel change

I have a 100% reproducible crash on channel change on my system:

Windows 7
MP V1.1 beta (with or without this latest SVN)
CoreAVC 2.0 and EVR used
XFX Geforce 9300

If CUDA acceleration is enabled in the CoreAVC decoder, MP crashes whenever I switch from a high definition interlaced (ASTRA HD) to a non-interlaced high definition channel(ARD HD), or other way around. The system is stable, if I press the Stop button before activating the new channel. Switching between channels of same picture format (either interlaced, or non interlaced) is no problem. With CUDA disabled, the problem is not occuring.

DXVA is not working correctly, e.g. N24 is switching between DXVA und non-DXVA every few seconds.
Try ATI Codecs

MS DTV works fine for SD for me - absolutely nicely so i want to stay at MS DTV - only HD does sometimes have blocky stuff.

ATI was providing codecs all the time in their AVIVO package which you could install seperatly - they were simply not included in Catalyst package. But as far as i remember the avivo codecs are old PowerDVD 7 codecs - or has this changes?
