The homepage link to the latest weekly test builds points to a an empty thread "MediaPortal and TV-Server 1.0 RC4 svn-builds" and looking at the RC4 roadmap it can't be too far away...

    SVN Number in Configuration

Just a thought as I tinker with various combinations of TV server and MediaPortal, would it be possible to have an option somewhere in the configuration to show the version (e.g. 1.0RC3, SVN20755, etc) number of the build your using?

The SVN version is given at the beginning of each log (mediaportal.log and tv.log).

Besides you should always use the same SVN version for MediaPortal and the TvServer.

it would be wonderful to be able to use both the same version, but support for my tuner (HD Homerun) disappeared after SVN #20227 so I've been mixing and matching SVNs for TV-Server and MP ever since. I know it's on the 1.0 roadmap to get fixed, and following another thread according to dman_lfc a fix should be in the next SVN (#20829).

I know I can find the version in the log, I'd just thought it would be easier to find it as a menu item. Just like in most programs (Firefox, Outlook, Acrobat etc.) you can go to menu some variation of Help->About and see a version number without digging into log files.

    same here

When playing a CD, I ejected it without first stopping playback in MP. This caused MP to hang.
The only way I found to recover was to kill it with Task Manager.

Anyoen able to reproduce this issue? Looks like BASS player is infinitely trying to start CD audio playback and receives an error (as no CD is available anymore).

I can reproduce this error. Ejecting the CD without stopping playback causes MP to hang.
not able to attach log-files as I´m at the office atm.

    RC3 timeshifts without cause

    Hi Folks,

I am sad to say that of all mediaportal releases, and I have used almost all of them, RC3 is the most instable and buggiest of all.

I am used to the fact that with every release and every svn, bugs are solved and new bugs introduced.
And I'm not afraid to try things out, But RC3 is so unreliable, I reverted back to RC2, which does almost every thing right.

I have two hauppauge 150 cards, and right from a fresh install and after rebooting, the server starts timeshifting the first card, whithout me doing anything!?
Resulting in recording the wrong channel and/or even a recording switching channels in the middle of a movie!!, or no recording at all, with recordings staying in the pending screen forever.
Stopping the service and starting again doesn't help, card 1 starts timeshifting again.

I have tried every scenario possible,
two cards, one card, switching the cards,
fresh install with leaving the database,
fresh install with flushing the database, and cleaning the registry of al MP threads, and all this in different order.
and even a totally fresh windowsXP, with updates, SP3, reinstall of all the drivers, and the whole shabang and then installing RC3.

This took me a whole day, but the same problem persist, and none of the svn's solves it.
In fact there is no mention of my problem anywhere in the outstanding bugs!

When I install RC2 (even without any svn), everything works perfectly, except for some minor issues, which are solved in the svn's.

As long as I don't see this issue posted by others, or find it on the bugs list, I will stick with RC2.

For my setup, RC3 is a major setback, and not seeing my issue on the buglist, makes me very hessitant to try out RC4 or the final V1.

Don't get me wrong, I am not critisising, I know every one does his very best, I'm just trying to get attention for this issue.

I have no logs to post, because like I said, I'm back to RC2.

    thanks,

    SquonkSC

p.s. Last week I tried out every htpc software out there, gb-pvr, showshifter, vista mediacenter, mythtv, mythbuntu, J.rivers, BeyondTV, etc..
But let it be said that nothing comes close to MediaPortal. (in fact, with neither of them the TV part worked right, while my setup is pretty much main stream).
Only VistaMCE worked, but my wife hated the very confusing layout. :))))

Had a look at your log.
Really strange. Seems that somehow the Volume change has not been recognized.
It looks like that you removed the CD exactly between the change of 2 songs. Can you give it a try, while in the middle of a song?

For me it worked perfect here. i can't reproduce the problem at all.

BSOD is 99.99% caused either by the drivers or hardware itself, not the used software.
