    That's the point!

svn's are for testing and are of varying reliability. They are not intended for production use...i.e. Do not use svn versions if you are relying upon the system for functionality.

My point is this current sequence of SVN's have gone from flaky DVB radio to barely working radio that crashes the rest of MP when it fails on this weeks train wreck release. Not much point fixing all the playback annoyances if the recording engine keeps getting worse :(

There are really small amount of DVB radio users, that probably contributes to the bad quality of DVB radio functionality. So, please start reporting the bugs so there is a change to fix those :)

    Here is one bug report:

MediaPortal VMR9 fail to render some h.264 (AVC) videos under WinXP - freeze on first frame (or blackscreen if there are subtitles)

Switch to EVR and problem gone.
    DXVA ON/OFF - no effect

No problem in GraphStudio (using VMR9), MPC-HC, GB-PRV (or else DS based players using same decoders as MP)

Video sample and Logs can be found here

    EDIT:

Using FFDshow as video decoder and it works fine - this lead me, can it be connected to latest core.dll changes? (MPC video decoder caused crash durning graph cleanup)

    EDIT2:
Tested on Win7x64 + VMR9 - Not working, so it is easy to reproduce.

I just wanted to say that I can get the same behaviour here on Windows XP SP3 as Hoborg reports (with same file, MPC-codec etc.).

The file plays fine in VMR9 with PowerDVD 9 codec though...

Sounds like a pretty nasty incompatibility bog between VMR9 renderer and MPC-HC decoder. Good that I don't have XP installed :D

My comment seems to be missing the MP in front of the VMR9 renderer. Sorry for that.

    Problem with h264 video playing

I have made a clean install of 1.1 beta (onto a very recent install of Win7 Home Premium) and then installed this SVN. Almost everything seems to work - very impressive so far. I'm posting this in here because I have not had this problem before.

Particularly impressive is that MP works "out of the box" with Win7 without any additional installs. I haven't installed any codec packs, or even Haali, and (almost) everything plays including AC3 sound.

My only problem is with playing my camcorder videos in .m2ts format. They just won't play. The onscreen message is "

    Unable to play [filename]:

    Video Codec: AVC
    Audio Codec: AC3

I am using the MS-DTV codecs as defaults for both TV and video. On TV no problem at all on both SD and HD. On any video format other than .m2ts videos, also no problem at all.

All these videos play in Windows MCE and Media Player so I know the files are OK.

Any ideas why this is happening?

    I have uploaded a 23 second clip (30 MB) to http://cm3.dk/ts_sample_720p_h264_PAL_pilehave.ts
The clip is blocky with pretty much anything, except for CoreAVC (smooth and clean). I have tried Microsoft DTV-DVD, CyberLink H.264/AVC Decoder (PDVD9), ffdshow Video Decoder (knew that wouldn't work!) and MPC - Video Decoder.

Works nicely with the Windows 7 decoder + EVR. If the clip doesn't play nicely within MPC-HC then the issue is most likely not related to MP at all.

    Also please remember that:

    1) MPC-HC decoder wont work properly (if at all) with current TsReader
    2) Cyberlink decoders have issues with DXVA with current TsReader
    3) ffdshow could work if you have fast enough CPU to handle the software decoding (blackilisting is only for MPEG2 material)

Is it possible to apply the patches created by a smart guy here in Brazil to TsReader so we can have audio in SBTVD (ISDB-T)?

Please ask him to post a patch into the patches section. If it is a bug and the patch is good quality then we can integrate it into 1.1.0, but if the patch requires some new functionality (which I doubt) then it will be post 1.1.0.

I'm not really a smart guy, I'm just helping out on this issue... :D Anyway, after some help from two guys, we could observe that it is impossible to connect to MONOGRAM using this modified TSReader, so, it is no good for now for a MP release, since tsreader won't work with Monogram anymore (which is the AAC encoder used by MP).

In Brazil we are using a modified TSReader that connects to LibFaadWrapper (the original one won't) and LibFaadWrapper handles our LATM/LOAS AAC-HE just fine. If anyone wants to use Media Portal with ISDB-Tb / SBTVD, just send me a PM, I'll be glad to send the latest TSReader modified to connect with libfaadwrapper and also libfaadwrapper (it is open source and its developer told me that there is no problem distributing it).

The real fix for this is to add proper support in Monogram for LAT/LOAS AAC-HE audio tracks that have explicit SBR signaling, libfaadwrapper was basically a port of Monogram to Delphi that was latter improoved by Griga (its author), and one of the several improovments was adding proper support for explicit SBR signaling. This is not my cup of tea, but I'll try to add the improovements to Monogram source code and send those to its developer, so he can perhaps add it to Monogram. :p This should be the best long term solution to have everyone happy about AAC support in MP for ISDB-Tb/SBTVD. ;)
