    TV - HTPC Connection: HDMI

    Hi,

I am still setting up my first HTPC with MediaPortal. Thanks to all devs! :D

I arranged my local network in a way that I manualy switch on my router, modem and lan switches when I use my PC's.
With my HTPC it should be the same. When the htpc comes alive from resume at night, because of a scheduled recording the lan will not be powered on, so no IP/internet connection.
As I use the DVB-S EPG there is also no requirement for a lan or internet access.

However, without the lan there is no MY-TV. Is this a configuration issue? I already tried with DHCP and fixed IP adresses on the interface card, with no success.

Any ideas to solve this, other than to automatically switch on my lan?

    regards

    Dietmar

    Hi

Not sure whether this will work for you, but MPStandbyHandler has a loopback setting which should overcome this.

This may well be overkill for what you need and someone may give a a simpler solution.

    I've noticed the same issue.
A single seat MP should not need a active LAN connection. As soon as I shut down my switch/router I am unable to watch TV anymore :(

Start - System Control - Hardware

Install the loopback device (you find it under Microsoft).
Then take a look, wich ip adress the network card has (that ip, that your router gives to your network card).
change this ip into the router, then configurate the loopback device and set the ip to manual and give the loopback device the ip from your network card before the ip was changed in the router.
After a reboot you can disconnect your network card and voila the server runs without the physical card.
I had the same prob and solve it this way, because the loopback device is only a virtual network card.
