Though I didn't try to rip a dvd yet, I am somewhat confused about how to config the pluginb to rip dvds. Do I need another program for that? If yes which one and how do I need to config it?

Dude, I am somewhat confused.

I don't know what all this configuration stuff for dvd ripping means. I just tried to rip a dvd and it woun't work.
Manfred, can you make a real good installation and configuration how to, step by step, so that I can understand what I need to do to and what all the possible configurations mean. It should also have all links for downloads that are needed. I don't know what MEncoder does, the link on first post directs me to an ffmpeg download - that's not MEncoder, is it?.
This plugin is really good, it does what I want to have but I can't get it running for dvd ripping.

Music ripping works fine, that cool. Please, I need some help.

I just noticed that there were some bugs left (own configuration file related) which can affect to dvd ripping. New version in first post.

MrCrabs: if you search that Mencoder dl page a bit you can see Mplayer&Mencoder packages as well. Take 29355 revision from last summer - that at least works but not the latest. And common rule is that you will always need online decrypter no matter what is your ripping method.

@others: my skinning information was not accurate. It is not needed to make any adjustments for skins for this plugin.

Manfred: The Version you can download via the plugin-archive is still the old one. I don't know if you are aware of that but someone already asked me since his version doesn'T work and he used the link (not the attachement) you gave in the first post.

Did you consider using MPEI for MediaSlayer, that would make it easy to keep the version up to date.

Is there any possibility to prevent Power Scheduler from going to standby, while ripping in Media Slayer is ongoing?
I'm using the internal ripper, so there is no ripping process that could be entered in the Power Scheduler settings.
Could you start any "dummy" process, that is doing nothing while ripping?

Thats a really neat trick because for me (and apparently several others) clicking on the link in the first post takes you to the Mediaportal plugin download page for MediaSlayer and clicking on the download link there results in:
