I have a bunch of Blu-rays I ripped into MKV and am playing through MP, but a handful have a video stuttering issue in the beginning of the movie. If i FF 15 seconds it will almost always go away and play perfect for the rest of the movie. I have tried changing all the player codecs in the settings and that does not seem to help. Any ideas what I could look at or change??

I'm seeing this as well. Sometimes when I start h.264 movies there's a crazy amount of stutter. If I fast forward a couple of times it usually goes away, but it's still pretty annoying.

I am glad its not just me! But your right, its sure annoying! and kind of embarrassing when you want to show off your new HTPC and MP setup to your friends ;)

I keep thinking if it was a codec issue it would either work or not, not bet better after a FF???

Wondering if I should try coreAVC???

I have a feeling that this has something to do with Windows 7, because I haven't seen it before changing from XP to that. It's probably not a codec problem, because I have been running the same codecs for a while now (SAF). I have been meaning to write a proper error report on this, but it just hasn't been bugging me enough to muster it. I know what you mean about the HTPC show-off debacle though, seems it has happened to me too many times to keep track of :)

I use coreavc and it is much better. when I first started viewing mkv's I use to get stutter but not anymore I would recommend the coreavc codec.

Cool thanks, I'll give that a try. Are you also using windows 7 ??

I tried CoreAVC, but it did not help, must be a windows 7 issue:(

anyone else have a work around??

Thanks for the help guys, BUT if I read the other thread right, they are dealing with AUDIO stutter and sync issues, right? My problem is the video is messed up, and the audio continues perfect. Maybe that thread drifted into new territory, but maybe I will try changing the RR of my video stream and see what happens...

If I am wrong and that patch does fix my issue, I have another dumb NooB question...Where exactly are the DLL's I need to swap out and how exactly do I do it?

    Thanks fo rtrying to help!
