You don't have to use the full Argus. Keep the MP TV Server and use Argus just for scheduling,
Can you give some steps to doing just that (ie what do you choose at the install time) ? Id also like to keep the TV Server core so I can use WebMp etc but the Argus scheduler portions I really really miss and far out perform anything in MP.

I have not used the MP TV Server for a while and I´m not sure if I can guide you. Did you have a look in the Wiki?

Otherwise I had to make a test setup to be sure how it works.
Yea, but all the Argus doc's always refer to using the plugin, and thus I presume you cant then use WebMP and Ampdroid etc.

I used 4TR and then Argus for years and really miss the scheduling features ... but its been over ruled by others in the family really wanting Mobile access

Provide mobile access another way. I am using MePo with Argus, and for movies and internet streaming I have MB3 server setup. It works really well. I have a folder setup for recorded tv through MB3.

If a developer wrote a plugin for MB3 and MePo Live TV is being actively developed for WMC and NPVR backends. And I have also seen that MB would very much like a developer to work on MePo integration.

Thanks and its a really interesting option, however by using simple shares on the TV Server I can already access all content (Music, Recordings, Pictures etc) using something like ES Filexplorer. Having access to the EPG, Moving Pictures, TV Series and to be able to do scheduling etc is the main part missing however.

That is how I use MB3, rather than using moving pictures and tv series and having to individually configure and maintain databases on 4 clients I chose to load MB3 server up and use the mediabrowser plugin for MePo. That also has the side benefit of allowing me to stream movies, music, pictures, live tv, and recorded tv remotely. As far as scheduling is concerned Argus has a web server for that. I can remotely search, locate, and schedule recordings remotely.

I've yet to try TVWishList, but I tried Argus with disappointing results. Maybe I did something wrong (with the limited documentation), but there were multiple issues:

    1. The MediaPortal plugin installation quietly replaced MediaPortal's own tv plugin. Not nice, especially since the plugin it provided didn't actually work. I couldn't get any of the Argus menu items to work (Titan Extended) so this meant I lost all TV functionality in MediaPortal.

    2. I couldn't get Argus Scheduler to load DVB EPG from MediaPortal TV Service even though it found the channels just fine. Enabled it in the TV Service plugin, but no go.

    Next to TVWishList...

+1 for TVWishList, been using it for some time now and just a dream because of it's features.

okay, now I have TvWishList up and running. The installation was a bit convoluted as I wanted the client plugin too and then had to hunt for the skin files for Titan. I'm still not sure if the email function works for me, because even though I managed to get a test message through, it hasn't sent any other messages. I also found that the very terse labeling style for the fields and buttons made it necessary to check almost everything from the manual. But in the end it seems to work, and that's the most important thing. Still doesn't make me not want improvements in the built-in functionality, though. :)
