Hi,

I have TV server running on a machine and 2 remote clients. Live TV works fine on the clients (i.e. being streamed ok from server). However, most recorded programs appread as black, with no audio. Some recorded programs display okay though. I haven't be able to correlate the few that work to see what they have in common other than my comment on the logs below.

If I start a 'bad' recording playing, and open the stream with VLC, then VLC displays it fine, while MP continues to display a black screen. OSD shows progress through the program as if it was playing fine.

These recorded programs display fine within MP running on the server machine itself.

Have tried a number of different codecs and have also tried both .ts and .mpg.
I've attached tv.log, streaming server.log and MPFileWriter.log from the server and MediaPortal.log and vmr9.log from a client.

Looking at vmr9.log, a working recording has the following:

I'm not sure what these mean, but these entries in vmr9.log are consistent - for a working playback there is mention of 768x576, for an broken playback, there is not.

N.B. Also tried without de-interlacing to see if it made a difference. It didn't.

Any ideas?

An interesting workaround (though not very WAF):

If I start a blank recording playing then press FFWD, it forwards a bit (still black screen though). Then I press PLAY and it starts playing ok - video and audio are back. Plays fine from that point on.

Had a look at the logs and they don't give much away from the time that the FFWD and PLAY are pressed to indicate why it would make it start working. I've put bold on the times around which these speed changes took place.
