Movie playback freezes frequntly, but only from one internal HDD (1 Viewer)

I have been using MP for a couple years now and love it! I only use it for standard DVD iso playback and don't use the TV Server at all. I found bluray isos to be so large I would quickly run out of space if I used it for that. I guess I could be doing something wrong there, but that's another subject entirely. Anyways, I had a brand new PC build in 2012 built specifically to run MP and it doesn't do anything other than this function. It has (2) 2 TB internal HDD that are Western Digital, 8GB Ram. I play this through a Denon AVR and out to my projector via HDMI.

Now this has been going on for a while. I had no issues with MP 1.2 and upgraded to 1.5 back in 10/2013. This issue started about 5 or so months ago with no other changes/upgrades that I am aware of. If I am playing a movie file from the 1st HDD, lets call it (A), perfect playback with no issues. If I play one from (B) it will frequently freeze (1-5 seconds) and the sound will cut out then come back with where the movie should be and the video kind of fast forwards to catch up to current placement. This can happen anywhere from 5-20 times during a 1.5hr movie.

At first I thought it was the drive, but if I use another player such as VLC, the video plays perfect. The only time I have issues with the playback is through MP. But I am confused as to why MP would only have issues with one drive? Or it could be coincidence I guess that the other drive hasn't had any freezing. I even updated from MP 1.5-1.9 and no changes. I use the Titan skin as well.

I have searched for hours on these forums and the net as well as checking various settings to no avail. Most of the freezing threads I found were TvServer or Bluray (stuttering) playback related and no standard movie/video issues. Is this a setting or parameter that needs changed? Any help or guidance would be greatly appreciated!!!

Thanks
Mark

    Logs would help but....

Check the windows Application and System Events and see if a drive or controller is registering errors
Next, on the problem drive, Right click on the drive (D:, E:, whatever the drive is), go to Properties
Click on the Tools tab and then the Check Now button
Choose both options and click Start
There will be a warning the system needs to be rebooted to complete this.
Once you reboot the system it will check the drive for errors and attempt to fix them.
This can take from a few minutes to a few hours So Be prepared
Do not interrupt the scan once started.

If you have any security software installed, make sure that you configure it to trust MP. Possible problem: security software scanning => high HDD loads => stuttering playback in MP.

Also, I would try to swap the same movie file from drive A to drive B and see if the problem sticks with the drive or with the movie file.

Sorry on the logs as I was thinking that would be nice to share, but I have no idea how to run them?

I checked the Event view and saw a couple errors under applications for VSS, side by side and WMI. But not sure if that is related?

I am currently running the scan now and you are right on time. Its currently at 30 files and its been running for an hour! I will post back once it completes.
    Thanks for the help!

I will check on the security settings as I use AVG. I can try to move a file, but it seems all of the files (100) on that E: Drive seem to have the same issues, but none on the other.

Almost 5hrs later and we are only at 40 files scanned. At this rate it could be a 24 hr process! Luckily I don't use it for anything else. :)

I looked in the folder C:\ProgramData\Team MediaPortal and have 2 folders listed "MediaPortal" and "MediaPortal TV Server". TV Has nothing under it, when I open MediaPortal folder I have tons of file options, but not sure which one is the actual log file you guys are looking for? Is there a particular named file I need?

I haven't tried playing the file on the C: Drive yet since its still scanning and didn't want to mess with any of that Drive yet.

Thanks all of you for your help![DOUBLEPOST=1419302877][/DOUBLEPOST]I searched in the MediaPortal Wiki and found the Watchdog application in that MedialPortal Folder. I have attached the zip file output from this program. Keep in mind I just installed the update to 1.9 today and tried the first movie and it had the same error and then I stopped it. I assume there isn't much in this log. Let me know if this works or if there is something else you are looking for log wise.

    Thanks again.

I can disable the HTPCInfo plugin, but I did just install that yesterday when I upgraded to 1.9 in an attempt to fix my issues. The problem existed before that was installed though. I realized while installing 1.9, I should back up MediaPortal every so often to maybe give me somewhat of a restore point and thought that plugin could help with that. I haven't ran that plugin yet either.

I may need to play a movie again and then log right afterwards to see if that helps for you guys to see something. But the error check is still running and its been around 18hrs. I am currently around 10-15% on the status bar of the check. Does this long seem normal?

Thanks again for all your help!

No.... Is this the drive that you have the movie issues on?
if it is, its possible there are a lot of errors / issues with this drive causing this to take so long and when playing movies.
