How's it coming @Traffik ? Can I ask you a favor? Can you document the process you used to convert from Moving Pictures using XML exporter? The tutorial we have in Wiki is based on NFO files, but I think for other users like you with many DVDs/Blu-rays it might be nice to help them avoid the difficulties you had at first. I am not talking about the network setup/issues - those are separate and I would like to wait for Guzzi's enhancements to the Setup Wizard for Network setup before I document that.

If you are willing - you can:
    1. Post here in forum
    2. Post a text or word file
    3. Write it on your Wiki user page (select MyPage from Wiki menu then New Page and select the Tutorial Template.) - then I can help you with it and just move it to MyFilms wiki when ready.
    4. Check the existing tutorial for NFO files and if most of the same info applies, you can copy and edit that to start
If not, if you could at least post a link to the converter/version you used that worked for MP 1.3.x so I can update that in wiki? Thanks!

    Ok
The link to the updated XML exporter that I used for 1.3 is here:
    https://forum.team-mediaportal.com/...-compatibility-parameters.116545/#post-965856
It seems that in this thread there are continuing to update as there is a 1.4 version already.

And then I just followed this guide:
    http://wiki.team-mediaportal.com/1_...nversion?highlight=moving+pictures+xml+export

In the above guide there is a link to an outdated version of the XML exporter, so dont use that!

To be honest I have gone round and round with this for over a week now and Im starting to loose my mind a little :)
So I cant exactly remember the precise steps I took to complete the job.
Im still very much in the learning phase myself here and wouldn't want to give any incorrect information!

But nevertheless, after following the guide and using the updated exporter I managed to easily create a database that included all my DVD and BluRay offline collection as well as my files stored on the local disc.[DOUBLEPOST=1373538966][/DOUBLEPOST]When the xml is imported into MyFilms it is missing all the Fanart and covers. Unfortunately it doesn't get copied across, it only the text type data, no images, so I am now in the process of manually moving each piece of Fanart from the MovingPictured folder to the MyFilms folders, of which there are separate folders for each movie, so its fairly time consuming!
You can of course just run the import, which I did to get the covers back, but I wanted to keep the FanArt I had setup from MovingPictures.[DOUBLEPOST=1373539087][/DOUBLEPOST]If I do get my head round all this and am able to get to the stage where I know exactly what I am doing with all this then I will of course write you a guide, but for now really all you have to do is update the link to the new XMLExporter on the original guide.

Thanks Traffik - I had forgotten we added so much detail to the FAQ page for Moving Pictures Conversion DUH!
I added a link to the forum thread with Edalex's update - I would have never found it there so thanks!
I'll take a look at moving the details to the Importing from MovingPictures DB tutorial (or sub page) so you see them in one place. But if that worked for you, no need for more docs! But if you do find things that need more/better explanation let me know. I am currently trying to restructure and simplify the MF wiki a bit to make everything a bit more logical and obvious. I hope I don't screw you up while you are using it. ;) Most cases links will auto redirect if I change any page names/locations so you should be ok.

Yeah, it's easier on you to just let MyFilms download fanart again (you can set the # of fanart images you want on the Database Fields tab in AMCU. I think both MovPics and MF use TMDb for fanart so same images except MF downloads as many as you want. Then just copy any you don't get from MovPics fanart folders. :( But it does take time depending on your bandwidth, # movies and # fanart images you want. We plan to add a Fanart Manager a la TV Series - I'm pushing for it ;) cuz I don't find all the images are the correct resolution. BTW you can use the current Fanart Manager in MyFilms to generate fanart from the movie if there is none on TMDb.

EDIT, ofc you could use the NFO export to get MovPics fanart for at least your stored media (not DVDs/Blu-rays tho) and then import that into MyFilms, but probably more trouble in the long run.

Yes the reason why I am using the FanArt from Moving Pictures is because a lot of the images that MyFilms grabs are low res.
A fanart manager like the MyTVSeries plugin would be great.
Thanks for everything though man, this stuff really is awesome :)

I will keep an eye out on the wiki and let you know if I have any suggestions.

    Thanks.

    Just a quick question...
I seem to have everything setup pretty well now, the database has been updated with all the network addresses, and locally stored movies as well as offline discs play perfectly now on both machines.
However, the central database option in the MyFilms config wont let me sync from server, it says "cannot write to local directory - cannot continue"
I don't understand it, I have all my permissions setup correctly, I can read and write to and from both machines, both ways, in all the directories that would be used...??

    Hi Traffic,
I think that is a bug - I had the same problem when I was working on the new network setup wizard support - and it was caused by invalid characters in the backup filename - so it struggles when trying to create the backup file and throws that error. If it is that, it is fixed with next version. Strange, it was never reported ...

Just for the record, I wiped MyFilms and started fresh just to cement in the process in my head!
In fact I did it twice. The second time round, when using the MovingPictures exporter, I unchecked the boxes for copying covers and fanart.
The reason I did this was because I had a look at the exported XML and there were pointers to the MovingPictures folders which I think was preventing AMCupdater from downloading the artwork for the entire collection.

Sorry, I forgot to mention you can specify the minimum (or max) resolution you want for fanart in AMCUpdater > Database Fields tab under Fanart Handling (right below where you select the # of images you want. It doesn't speed it up since MyFilms still has to check each image, but it should save you from getting the low res images on TMDb.
