Granted there is an issue with blank/non-imdb movies, but that normally only qualifies for a super small percentage of a normal collection. For the time being you could just use the MyVideos plugin to deal with those home movies and import them into MovPic later.

Now if you have a problem with IMDb movies getting automatically matched up, then you might require some tweaking to the noise filter, or use alternative methods such as NFO files containing the IMDb tt-ID. If you have any examples of filenames (and content of NFO files, etc), then I can possibly assist you in finding out why your movies are not automatically importing.

These are my logs. I have this problem for both "add blank" and "Rescan selected file" When I click one of these options I get a windows popup where I can choose "Details", "Go further" or "Close".

    Just wait for the new release then, @ltfearme made some contributions to source repository that might fix this problem. If you can compile from source you can already test it.

    I just did it myself, and eventhough the "Media Importer" list crashes, the movie does get added under "Movie Details" (with the title and year), but with a lot of missing data. One of those values getting added as (nothing) aka 'NULL' causes things to crash. Perhaps MovPic GUI (appeared to be the method you used to add the movie) skips over the title/year part that MovPic config uses.

    This would explain why you can not locate the movie then.

    So for now use MovPic config and click 'continue' when you get the crash, but more importantly *ONLY* use the 'add blank' movie option for home videos and such, because any real movie will have an IMDb page and you should then use the binocular icon to supply this missing info (IMDb tt-ID is easiest way to do so)

    Hi thanks for your answer. I have read you message a couple of time, but do not quite understand your answer. I don't see any movie details. It takes many hours when importing the movies. When it has finished there are no possibilities to select the correct movie title or change the name of the imported movies so it can detect the correct titles. Also no possiblity to use "add blanc" funtion
    What is exact the binocular icon?

    You might be dealing with more then one issue, which makes it near impossible to determine root cause(s). It should not take many hours to import, unless you are importing like 3000+ movies. Odds are some of the movies you are importing have corrupted headers causing MediaInfo to freak out when it scans header info. The movingpictures.log file can help you there, if you switch MediaPortal to debug mode.

    One solution is to switch MovPic advanced settings to a single import thread, this will ensure that if one file gives you a problem you know which one it is, because the default thread setting of 5 makes importing go a lot faster, but also makes it harder then to diagnose the issue.

    Or you split your import collection in small chunks and import multitudes of your thread count, so say you import 50 movies at a time, and verify the movingpictures.log file contains no errors (do a CTRL+F on the word 'error'). If the technical feedback from log file is beyond you, then just attach the entire log file in here onto a reply (zip it up if it is large).

    Once you found all the corrupt files, you can submit them to MediaInfo team (or verify you have the current version of mediainfo.dll as bug might already be fixed), or use other 3rd party tools to repair them. Then once all is said and done, then I would delete the movingpictures.db3 database and do a single full import on all the media files that are good now and you will see how it is supposed to work.
