    Hey guys.

MP crashes on me every morning when resuming from standby ( hibernate ). Getting a message that MP has stopped responding and needs to close.
Watchdog does nothing. Logs collected manually.
    Running latest 1.2.1 .

Have funny feeling it started after Windows update but have no idea which one.

    Cheers

    Hi vvulture

You can use the watchdog with option 3 to grab all existing logs. That would be more helpful as the crash details will likely be in the system or application event logs rather than MP or TV Server logs...

    Thx for the reply.
    1 - What is "option 3" ?
2 - Problem is that watchdog doesn't kick in\activate when MP crashes.

    Cheers

I take it you're not aware that the watchdog is actually a more general purpose tool?

    1. Open your start menu and find the "debug mode" link in the "Team MediaPortal" folder in your start menu.
    2. Start it - what you see is the watchdog tool.
    3. Select option 3 "export all currently present logs".
    4. Click "proceed" - this will create the zip file on your desktop.
    5. Post the zip file here.

I certainly prefer people to use the watchdog like this - it reduces the size of the logs, making it easier to spot the problems and follow actions.

When you have specific steps to reproduce a bug then you use option 1 or 2 depending on whether the steps require plugins to be enabled or not (option 1 disables plugins and uses the default skin). Clicking "proceed" with option 1 or 2 starts MP; you reproduce the problem and then close MP when you're done reproducing the bug and you want the logs to be collected.

When you've had a crash like in this case then you use option 3 to collect existing logs.

    Wiki info is -->here<--.

Thx mm.. will try 2morrow morning. It only happens when the system has been sleeping overnight.
Started happening after installing a whole heap of windows updates.

    Cheers

    Ok.
It did it again this morning.
Tried to collect logs using option 3 in "Debug Mode" to no avail. Keep getting an error when collecting data. Screenshot of error supplied.

globaldonkey, no i haven't tried that option yet but will give it a go.

    Ok.

Tried the "Workaround " option but MP still crashed this morning.

Again, tried using debug mode to collect logs but still getting error as per screenshot in previous post above.

Have you tried using the Windows Event Viewer (in admin tools) to look at the Windows Logs -> application log - it should have error entries for when MP crashed, which might give a clue as to which part crashed.
