I just upgraded the drive in my MediaPortal machine to a 4 TB Seagate hybrid drive (runs faster!). Did new install and upgrade of Win XP Media Center to SP3. Tried installing MP 1.10, but it bombed, so did a complete uninstall and installed MP 1.30. My old installation of 1.23 worked fine on this machine.

MediaPortal starts up OK, video server is running, I can see the stream from both HomeRun Dual tuners with VLC, but when I go to "Video" in MP, and press "Watch TV",. screen is blank black. No video. I've checked everything I can think of...

Zips of log files attached.

If this is a client MP try changing the rtsp server port number in the server from 554 (the default) so something else e.g. 5554. This appears to be a common issue, the effects are that the client appears to connect to the server and can see things like EPG, but cannot receive a stream.

The server and the client are the same machine. I can't find anywhere in the HomeRun config software or the TV server config where it lets me change the port number. ?[DOUBLEPOST=1420231985][/DOUBLEPOST]

And the computer has a fixed IP address rather than using DHCP.

With the greatest respect, I think @perky 's suggestion is a red herring.
From the logs in the first post, it looks like you haven't got any audio hardware (ie. a sound card or HDMI output with audio support). You can't use MP successfully without such hardware.
...or maybe you just haven't installed the drivers for the audio hardware yet?

Thanks. I still have the old drive in the machine as drive E:, so I switched SATA cables and booted it up and figured out which drivers my old XP installation used. I then rebooted with the new drive and used the Windows device manager look at the drive cache on the old drive for the drivers, which are now installed. I still don't have any audio device control appearing in the Windows system tray, though, and no mixer. Windows control panel Audio devices says no device connected, and the "add hardware" applet tells me that the AMD HD Audio device is working properly.

VLC shows no audio being decoded, and there is no audio on the HDMI connection plugged into the DVR port on my Onkyo receiver.

And still, Mediaportal gets no video OR audio. AAARGH!

I take it you rebooted after installing the drivers?

Well, that's a problem. MP won't play ball until you can resolve this.

    As above.
This may seem counter-intuitive, but trust me on this one point: MP will not give you video unless you have audio sorted.
Since you don't have audio sorted, you won't get video or audio in MP.

I rebooted. Same as above, The Radeon driver downloads available don't seem to do anything for audio, they just install the Catalyst video control software.

As far as I remember, AMD used to distribute a separate driver for the HDMI audio device. A quick glance through the latest release notes suggests that the audio driver should be included with the GPU driver, but you may have to tick an option during driver installation to ensure it gets installed.

If all else fails you could try to install the Realtek HDMI audio driver:
    http://www.realtek.com/downloads/do...=24&Level=4&Conn=3&DownTypeID=3&GetDown=false

Lots of people do that. Same hardware.

Well, went through Radeon driver install again and was able to choose only audio driver install, and audio and video now finally work, exceot I get video flicker, both watching live and recording. Little bit by little bit, though.
